Not arguing with your data. Will you acknowledge that the article about what the photo in the the CNN article is showing is a bad faith argument?

The notion that melting alone indicates the world is ending, is overly simplistic. I wouldn't quite say bad faith, since the melting of the past decade has been worse than prior decades, according to that data. The article itself, if you read the whole thing, provides better details than the picture alone, but that the picture alone, sadly, is what people (on both sides) are overly focused on.

60 Years of soil left. Which I think gives us just enough time for the singularity to take hold.

Yeah, I've got to go with Gordon on this one. That seems like complete bullshit.

Farmers here know how to rotate crops to maximize soil usage and know how to get nutrients back into the ground. Are we the only ones in the world with that knowledge?

I don't know, the article didn't really get into the details...

It's almost like they're just throwing out doomsday scenarios to force a political agenda and knowing others will repeat it without asking any critical questions or show evidence of independent thought.

Fishing practices in developing countries are the wild wild west. Indonesia was an eye opener. Nets, dynamite, the works.

They're banning the bags throughout their entire organization, which is national (international?). That makes all the sense in the world from a business perspective. So, not idiocy.

Also, do you really think no plastic bags in Ohio ever end up in the ocean or contributing to pollution? You've never seen pollution in Lake Erie? Have you never visited it?

It's not nothing. Is it the solution to everything? Fuck no. But it's not nothing.

Fine, but it's so close to zero, relatively, to be effectively nothing. I wouldn't even want to guess how many zeroes there would be after the decimal point, as for overall percentage effectiveness. And I would bet a dollar that the alternatives will cause more environmental damage. Thick bags, transported over and over, weight a shitload more, and will burn more fuel. Much less the shitload of more plastic it takes to make them, versus a tiny BB of plastic that makes a disposable bag.... that I actually re-use for kitty litter. I'll be buying something else to replace that, someday. Net gain in plastic usage.
