Fair point.

I didn't ask him, but I'm curious where he got the data about a third of a half gallon of leafblower gas being being "aerosoled," which I don't quite believe, being equal to an F-150 burning 60 gallons of gas driving for 12 hours, which I also don't quite believe. But I'm willing to consider data.
I believe the latter one, I have no basis for the former. I do not know specifically about leafblower engines, but in 2003 I needed to buy a lawnmower. I looked at data for gas + electric ones, and the emissions of the gas lawn mower was 50 TIMES more than the electric, accounting for the emissions produced by the source power of the electric one. Those numbers have undoubtedly gotten better on the electric side with the rise of renewables and natural gas and decline of coal.

Those small engines are just horribly inefficient. For cars, the difference is more like 2x electric vs gas.

So a half gallon of gas in a leaf blower is.more polluting than 60 gallons in a truck?

Crazy, right? Car + truck engines are that regulated + efficient. There's no catalytic converter on a two stroke.

But I still say the guy didn't prove he had death threats.

Fair enough.

Here's the wikipedia link for the leaf blower data

I really hate those things. I have one, but it, too, is electric.

Also have an electric one, for the couple times a year I need to clear the driveway. Otherwise that shit gets mulched into the lawn.

I hate gas powered lawn equipment. A lot of effort for the convenience of not having a cord behind you.

The only gas powered items I have are my lawnmower and now a snow blower.

Science comes up with a way to radiate heat back into space.
Scientists developed a device with no moving parts that can sit outside under blazing sunlight on a clear day, & without using any power cool things down by more than 23 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius). It works by a process called radiative cooling.
Didn't read about feasibility, cost, etc.

My middle kid wants a goat.

In other news, Antarctic sea ice reaches record max levels.

They're quick to note it doesn't offset the ice lost in the Arctic.

Oh yeah. Everything we have is electric, but if I needed power to cover acreage, I'd get over it.

Most of the problem with small engine devices today is ethanol fuel. I learned from a small engine mechanic here that if you're going to be more than a couple of days not running your implement, then dump the fuel and run it dry. Even a short time in the carburetor with that crap they call gas can foul it up. If you can find ethanol free gas, even better.

I don't even think it's so much the tank if you have a fuel switch on the device. With my dad's log splitter, I just cut the fuel before I'm done and let the line and carb run dry. I think it's mostly the carburetor that mucks it up.
