Just factored the number 15 with what is allegedly a scalable design.

Glenn Beck was reading an article this morning that had been published by NASA and then pulled on the successful testing of the Google quantum computer. They said they haven't vetted the info fully enough (though I suspect Google threatened not to allow them processor time of they didn't pull it). If it pans out, then sell your crypto currency.

Quantum Supremacy achieved, for a particular problem
Google’s demonstration of supremacy was based on a narrow technical test, creating a system capable of proving that the figures produced by a random number generator were truly random. The quantum chip it built for the purpose, codenamed Sycamore, handled the calculation in 3 minutes 20 seconds. The researchers estimated that it would take the world’s most powerful supercomputer 10,000 years to reach the same result.

Behind this limited demonstration lie a series of technical breakthroughs that will have much wider application, pointing the way to full quantum computing, say experts such as Mr Rigetti, who have seen the research.

This morning? I can't see it either any more. It said some people were skeptical of the claims, due to lack of broad application, and others thought the results were very promising. And the team itself wrestled with the use of "supremacy" given the lack of broad applications, but went with it due to convention of the term.

Then click the Financial Times link in the up top panel. That will let you see it.

Wouldn't cracking the data chain in crypto currency also be a "narrow technical test"?

No. If you can break crypto, you can break the world

See it's funny because in the hit television show Quantum Leap, whenever Sam Beckett made a time-travel jump and saw his new wacky predicament, he always said, "Oh boy."

You're welcome I figured it would help everyone understand the good joke. You need to have a pretty high IQ to get it without help.

Google publishes their claim. IBM says their traditional computer would only take days, not thousands of days, like Google claims. That's still far behind the 200s Google says their task took.
