Too bad you were racist if you opposed Obamacare.

They can actually get healthcare, without paying $20k / yr. A lot of FI people retire on $30k - $40k / year.

At 30k-40k, you still can't afford Obama Care. Especially if you are 60+. We pay $9600 per year right now, and I consider our coverage as catastrophic coverage given the deductible and co-pay. Our insurance was WAY better and 25% cheaper pre-Obama. With how healthy we are, I consider us as not having insurance cause we still have to pay for everything. We never meet our deductible. We have, literally, the cheapest plan available. We stopped trying to have actual coverage as it became cheaper to have the shittiest coverage and pay out of pocket for our stuff than it was to maintain our old coverage. But we still pay 25% more than we used to.

Like Gordon said, the only winners were the insurance companies. The yearly increase cap was removed. The first year we were on it, we were paying about $30 less per month for the same coverage we had the previous year and thought "Cool. Go Obama Care." Ever since then, we have seen the double digit percent increase year after year. But the good thing is, we can rest easier knowing that if she gets knocked up, the birth will be covered. So that's cool. Oh. And the mental health coverage is cool too. Knowing that a bunch of stuff we'll never use is included really helps. We'll happily pay for the stuff we use so that stuff we don't use is covered. Cause that's cool.

People who make 30-40k for a family of four get Obama subsidies.

We just got converted to a high deductible plan with an HSA. I mean, if we DONT get sick, it's great! Extra retirement savings! Otherwise, we're fucked.

There's a reason insurance companies are building new buildings like crazy.

I'm paying more that I ever have before. So, no extra for me. Just subsidizing the fuck outta shit. It's ok. I'll just work harder so others don't have to.
