Well yeah. I'd be all in for a white moon.

Duh.

I'll be honest, I don't like biweekly checks. I get them at the new job. I preferred semi-monthly.

Rule of thumb is to double all of Elon's estimates, then still be impressed he did it.

We just watched on of the PBS moon mission documentaries. It only tracked through the Apollo 8 mission. I was struck by their talking about seeing the moon up close for the first time and how quickly they became bored looking at the moon. They said they had instructions and procedures for taking pictures of everything. The described seeing a sliver of color as they rounded the moon on the first orbit around and they were blown away by the Earth and how stunning it looked. Then they were scrambling to get the camera loaded to take some shots and get video because no one thought about that in the mission planning. Which sort of makes sense. They were interested in learning about the moon. It never occurred to anyone that they could also be learning about the earth.

Yeah, no idea what could go wrong storming a highly secured military installation.

Dumbasses.

NASA is set to find life or proof of former life on Mars, but NASA chief doesn't think we're ready for that revelation.

"It will be revolutionary," Green told the Telegraph. "It will start a whole new line of thinking. I don't think we're prepared for the results. We're not."

I find that statement a bit odd. I feel like a) some # of people already think we did find life on Mars, b) a LARGE number of people are in the "we are not alone" camp, etc.

Don't want to upset the delicate creationists. Their entire world view is already based on nothing. Errr, faith.

I think it more likely that they've hyped it up so much that if there's nothing there at all, no one will want to fund any more missions there.

I've honestly never heard a real live Christian being freaked out by the idea that life might be found somewhere else. Most look at the vastness of the Universe and don't think God would let that much go to waste.

Hmm. I don't know if I know any strict creationists.

First hero to ever walk in space passes away.

How big do your balls have to be to volunteer to do something nobody has ever done in the most inhospitable environment possible?

How sure are we that he volunteered? It was the Soviet Union.
