I'd recommend getting advice from a bike shop. Sadly, I know little about bike seats, and have always just taken the stock ones. I do wear padded shorts for mountain biking, not sure if that would help. I saw online someone recommending a cut-out seat for hemorrhoids: https://selleanatomica.com/collections/x-series

Other people said just get them "repaired"

Didn't cause me a lot of pain. Just bleeding when I went to wipe after doing my business. Figured that wouldn't be good as a regular thing as I wouldn't know what was from riding and what was from something that's a matter of concern.

I've seen a whale-tail looking seat on Amazon. Super wide.

I'm surprised how well my legs are recovering. Tells me 90% of my problems yesterday was the hard pain of the seat. I told my gfriend that I might as well do the last 5 miles with the seat off and the post directly up my ass, because it couldn't possibly hurt more.

The super wide ones are a trade-off, and really made for equally wide people. Or comfort bikes and riding upright.

Is this a thing I can condition myself with over time? The more I ride on that seat, the less it hurts?

Yes, with the caveat that sometimes you just need a better seat.

I used to ride 200 miles per week without issue. But every time I get back on the bike, I have to ramp up for a couple of weeks to avoid ass soreness

Hmmm ?

I do recommend the padded bike shorts, assuming your seat is not super-padded already.

"Hmmm" as in I will take that new information and figure out how to best incorporate it.

Thing is, I'm still hiking and kayaking and swimming and diving. I can't really focus on the bike and harden my ass to it. So I will probably will try the padded shorts, and try an easy 20 miler next time.

With padded shorts and more moderate mileage you should be fine.

1. Which of these are good?

2. With the crazy bright coloring on some of them that seem to highlight the padding, I assume these are meant to be worn under other shorts?

I would go for the ones that look like normal shorts. The spandex is for road cyclists. I've never heard of "cycling underwear" before, so that is new to me. I guess you could get that, and wear it under normal shorts.

I can't say which is good, and it's going to be what's good to you, and individual like that.

I would get a couple of pairs and just see what you like best.

My bike trainer broke. Sent it back today. Good news is that upon seeing the thing scan-in at FedEx, they processed the order for a free replacement, so hopefully it'll be here next week.
