You probably can't do it, so don't even try.

Garmin should have a function on the online stats that you and buddy's can, say, swim a set time.... nd then the website makes a mock race out of it showing how each swimmer did each lap, against each other, all based on the lap times the watch records.

Strava kinda does that. You ride the same segments as other people, and it compares your times. You can even replay it in time so see the dots move on a screen.

Ugh. I could not for the life of me figure out how my 1/2 mile swim this morning had been so slow (1:58 pace/100)... Turns out I mis-entered 800 yards into Strava instead of 900 yards at 15:45. That puts me at 1:45 pace, which is much more what I would have expected.

Current goal: 30:00 mile. Next goal: 27:30 mile

4th(?) day back in the pool. 40 lengths, 1000 yards. I dont remember the exact time (16:53?), but: 1:40/100 + 9 strokes/lap avg (my stroke got pretty bad after the first 250). The first 250 was on 4:00, I think

Alright, my Garmin swim is back and working and sync'd to the new laptop.

Apparently it was 16:33 this morning, not 16:53, with 1:39/100 - BAM! Swolf: 33; 21 strokes/min on average.

Your shoulder surgery probably did like that thing with Rosenbagger when he became the youngest pitcher ever for the Twins.

Cubs. Never saw that movie.

2.5 years ago I swam 1800 yds in 28:45, which is 1:36/100 pace. And two miles (3,550 yds) in 1:01:06 which is 1:43/100 pace. My fastest sprint of a 100 is 1:17 from that timeframe. Wonder if I even could manage 1:30/100's for a mile.

I've been rock climbing and doing shoulder stuff on TRX, which I think has kept me from being worse.

Distance swimming tips.

Check out how much further his forward shoulder is than his back shoulder. Also notice the roll he has in his hips-shoulders.

Also, how often do you breathe? It should be every single stroke.

Check her arm positioning, it's pretty solid, pulling from elbow down. You can't see the S in her stroke very well at that angle though

Focused on high elbows today, and seeing if I could hold a faster pace. Went 1,100 yards, 1:37 / 100; avg strokes/lap = 8; 17:47 or so, I think.

Yesterday was rock climbing + TRX Shoulders day, so the last 600 yards were rough. Still, pretty happy with it.

Today I am at 70 miles of my 2017 100 mile goal.... but looks like I will lose August almost completely. On vacation the first 2 weeks, pool closed the second two weeks.

Nice!

I swam 2/3rds of a mile today (1200 yards)... on the 1:42. Shoulder was still sore from Monday so eased up (19 strokes/minute) and focused on form.

Yesterday I was SO low energy, I just took it easy, and also focused on form... mostly really rolling the body. I was surprised to see I still swam 2900 yards over an hour. I'm just going to ease down the workouts into this upcoming vacation out west... I've been pushing too hard anyway, some joints are really aching. A couple weeks off are needed.

Whenever I trained for big stuff in the past, I wouldn't let myself train past 6 months without a large break to fix all the little things.

Yeah. A relaxing couple weeks of hiking through Zion is exactly what I need. Been nursing the right elbow and shoulder for a month, now.

Went to swim this morning... and found out my vertigo was back when I tried to do flip turns. Made it 500 yds, then 100 slow, and quit.

96 miles into the 2017-100 mile goal.

Tired of it.

Feeling slow and unmotivated.

Looking forward to taking a long break during the christmas holidays.
