New kickoff rule.

A fair catch ANYWHERE up to the 25 results in a touchback and the ball being placed on the 25.

This will really hinder Urban's style of trying to boot the ball short of the goal line so they have to return it. OSU had a good stat line not allowing opponents to start at their 25 or better.

Earle Bruce calls it a life.

Guy was a hell of a coach and maintained ties to OSU even after his firing. From all accounts he was a super great person.

Good for everyone. This is a school telling the NCAA to go fuck itself with its bullshit bias. Hopefully this leads to change, and when it inevitably doesn't, I hope other schools follow suit.

Buckeyes RB transfers to UNC.

It's a good move for him. The surprise emergence of Dobbins alongside already entrenched Weber, plus the new talent incoming meant little playing time for Williams. I hope he does well for UNC.

The Commission on College Basketball agrees with Catt, tells Leisher to suck it.
The Commission on College Basketball sharply directed the NCAA to take control of the sport, calling for sweeping reforms to minimize one-and-done, permit players to return to school after going undrafted by the NBA and ban cheating coaches for life.

The independent commission, led by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, released a detailed 60-page report Wednesday, seven months after the group was formed by the NCAA in response to a federal corruption investigation that rocked college basketball. Ten people, including some assistant coaches, have been charged in a bribery and kickback scheme , and high-profile programs such as Arizona, Louisville and Kansas have been tied to possible NCAA violations.

"The members of this commission come from a wide variety of backgrounds but the one thing that they share in common is that they believe the college basketball enterprise is worth saving," Rice told the AP. "We believe there's a lot of work to do in that regard. That the state of the game is not very strong.

"We had to be bold in our recommendations."

Well, the only part I disagree with is the "allowing them to return to college" and I stand by that. It's short sighted and hurts other students and the schools.

If you want to allow them to return to school with scholarship that doesn't count against the school AND they lose their spot on the school's team, fine.

Why are you so in love with coddling kids and protecting them from reality? If you turn down a job offer hoping another firm gives you a better one, you don't get to go back and take the original if the other doesn't happen.

No, I take the first job, then leave them if the 2nd comes in. Kids dont get that chance.

Meanwhile, you're fucking over the other kids waiting to take that first job. The draft comes so late that many will have already lost the opportunity for that job.

Employer #1 would be right to fire your ass because how effective are you with one foot out the door.

But who cares about other students and the school? It's all about you.

You're making my point for me. Why are you more important that someone else? Aren't you the crybaby trying to leave and then whining because they gave your spot away?

And that's where you immediately lose all credibility. Why don't you reference global warming, the Russians, or Hitler while you're at it. Fucking hippie.

No, because you still miss the point or simply ignore them (I think it's the second thing).

They're getting paid (Both scholarship and under the table), they barely have to attend classes (especially at UNC :D ), they get prime pussy thrown at them non-stop, they're treated like kings, they get a full free analysis of where they will be drafted, and they have the freedom to make whatever choice they want. I just ask that they stand by that choice just like people have to do in real life.

In the real world you don't get a do over if you take a job across the country and end up not liking it. You don't get a reset if you decide to drive drunk and kill someone or get a DUI. You don't get to not be a father if your kid turns out to be a disappointment. Etc. for fucking ever.

Under the current system I don't understand how anyone could think it's fair to tell every student-athlete to enter their sport's draft every year until they're taken at a spot they desire. You make it impossible to recruit new players because you have no idea who is leaving and who is staying. It makes it impossible for future student-athletes to make decisions about where they will attend/play because they don't know the depth chart or if a scholarship is available or not. It'd be as shitty and harmful to kids as oversigning.

Oh, and by the way, under the current system they don't have to attend college. They can go directly to Europe or China and play professionally and still end up in the NBA. They can also join AAU or the G league.

If they join the college then they need to live by the rules of the college. You don't get to spit on the sidewalk in Singapore, why would you get to break the rules colleges and the NBA set up?
