Let's make a thread for just NCAA stuff. It can be a year round thing. We'll leave the NFL stuff in its own thread.

Anyway, here's the first story:
Alabama players are scumbags.

Let's see if they get kicked off the team or if winning is more important.

Indefinite suspensions. Good for Bama, but they should be facing loss of scholarships and ejection from the team.

In other news,
the Big Ten is dropping all FCS opponents.

Nice move, although it sucks knowing #5 Michigan won't get beat by Appalachian State again.

I think this makes them the only conference with such a rule?

Of course they were suspended, they were all backup players. Now Saban might be able to get those scholarships back.

Honest mistake or subtle jab?

I've got to think jab. No way does this photo qualify for a V-Day ad, and it just happens to be against Penn State?

Rutger's BBall coach is a fucking asshole.

3 game suspension and $50,000 fine? Really Rutgers? Way to protect your kids.

GAH
If our politicians don’t step in here, this Rice fiasco will be pointed to as an aberration rather than a symptom of a far bigger problem.

Dear NCAA, how much do you suck that even I am open to this.

Rutgers reacts to my post, fires coach
Under pressure from incensed state officials to take stronger action, Athletic Director Tim Pernetti said Wednesday that he had made a mistake in favoring suspension.
"I am responsible for the decision to attempt a rehabilitation of Coach Rice," Pernetti said in a written statement. "Dismissal and corrective action were debated in December and I thought it was in the best interest of everyone to rehabilitate, but I was wrong. Moving forward, I will work to regain the trust of the Rutgers community."
Gov. Chris Christie, who a spokesman had said was "deeply disturbed" by the video, said Wednesday he supports Rice's firing.
"This was a regrettable episode for the university, but I completely support the decision to remove Coach Rice. It was the right and necessary action to take in light of the conduct displayed on the videotape," he said.
Rutgers President Robert L. Barchi said he had agreed last year with an outside investigator's recommendation that Rice be suspended, fined and sent to anger management classes

On the one hand, I think people generally deserve a 2nd chance. On the other hand, the dude went too far.

If I'm a parent and I see this, I head to a practice and nail him in the face with a basketball and dare him to do something about it.

The guy's a fucking bully, and I guarantee you his violent behavior doesn't only occur at practice.

But Frank Mitchell, who played at Rutgers under Rice, told CNN what's in the video wasn't the norm at practices.

"From time to time, there's some instances of throwing balls or physically making contact with players, but it only occurred from time to time, it wasn't an everyday type thing," he told CNN. "Obviously, the video shows it happened, but they were isolated incidents. They weren't back to back."

I don't think "isolated" means what you think it means.

Fired.

Weird how it becomes a firing once the public sees what you're trying to sweep under the rug...

Expect a lawsuit from the assistant coach they fired for complaining about this asshole.

I mean, doesn't that break the federal whistle blower law?

Isn't this just normal coach behavior?

Looks exactly like every coach I've ever been forced by the school system to put up with.

That was more than they did to us even in Marine bootcamp.

You don't need to assault people to train them, or get their attention. That's just lack of leadership.

I certainly have had coaches who yelled, but none ever put a hand on a player.
