Meanwhile...
The chair of the ACC medical advisory group believes a fall season can be played safely, which is one of the biggest reasons the league remains on course to start the season in September.
Dr. Cameron Wolfe, a Duke infectious disease specialist, told Sports Business Daily that doctors have learned enough over the past six months to manage the risk.
"We believe we can mitigate it down to a level that makes everyone safe," Wolfe told The Daily. "Can we safely have two teams meet on the field? I would say yes. Will it be tough? Yes. Will it be expensive and hard and lots of work? For sure. But I do believe you can sufficiently mitigate the risk of bringing COVID onto the football field or into the training room at a level that's no different than living as a student on campus."

Pac12 presidents meeting now and their doctors also said cancel.
Big12 presidents meet tonight. If they also cancel, and apparently they've always looked to the B1G for guidance, that would leave only the SEC and ACC standing. At that point, what are you playing for? Nobody will respect your championship, IF there's one even offered outside of a conference championship.

To be fair, those are the only conferences that matter according to the past 14 years. With a one-off from OSU.Leisher wrote: Pac12 presidents meeting now and their doctors also said cancel.

To be fair, as rigged as the system is, that is a correct statement.
Big 12 is expected to try and play as well.
Four B1G teams have apparently reached out to the Big 12 about joining them. Nebraska, Iowa, PSU, and OSU.
Best part of all this: B1G schools will be in session soon, in person and people living on campus. Yet playing football in front of no fans is unsafe...

Did those people have to sign liability waivers that they couldn't get the players to sign?
I dunno. I feel like it's safe enough. The players are mostly bubbled within campuses, as I understand it.

Some thoughts on football.
Yes, yes we do. This is my favorite argument for postponing. When we talk about a "spring" football season, we mean winter-spring. In Columbus, Ohio, for instance, average high temperatures are 12 degrees lower and average precipitation 3 inches higher in February than in November. We all love a good snow football game -- I watch the 2000 Independence Bowl every time it shows up on my television -- but there will be some dramatically inclement weather games ... if they're played at home stadiums.
Hmmm.Top pro prospects will opt out.
Most likely, yes. Quite a few already have, and more are likely. Fall or spring, we are going to be moving forward without some of the sport's biggest stars, and the spring would likely see more opt-outs than the fall.
A spring season conflicts with the NFL draft.
It does. Maybe the NFL could be persuaded to move the combine and draft back a few weeks -- getting more film on guys before making selections is a good thing, after all -- but maybe not. If the draft remains in April and there is no NFL combine, it would be awkward. Still, the Major League Baseball draft happens during the College World Series. This doesn't have to be a make-or-break issue in this one-time-only moment.

I think it's only a matter of time before the other conferences cancel as well. At the very least we're going to see games get cancelled during whatever season they attempt to hold.
There's no bubble and we're talking about college kids at the height of their horniness surrounded by women more than willing to help them with that. C-19 positive tests are going to happen, and if the return to school for younger children is any indication, the season is doomed.

Each school has its own bubble. UNC, for example, all players are kept in a special dorm area, isolated from the general public, have curfews, etc. If players violate that, they have to go to isolation for 2 weeks. Meals are not with the general public, etc.
It's not quite the same bubble as women's soccer or hockey, but it's still a bubble.

I agree with this 100%, i don't think there will be any college football this year. Ain't happening in the spring either, just my opionion.
Also, only a matter of time before high schools across the country cancel football. No way can high schools play but college can't.
So i'm thinking that the NFL will fill that void with games from Thursday through Sunday every week just to fill that void. I'm ok with that.
WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

Fixed that for you.
A story to watch is Nebraska still trying to play. People are speculating this could lead to them exiting the B1G. Although, a Nebraska reporter has countered the report that they inquired to the Big 12, saying that never happened.
Schools really start going in 2-3 weeks. Let's see what happens when we start shoving all these kids together.

I'll take as many asterisks as you want.
The University of National Champions already started. They are starting early, will be done by Thanksgiving to avoid people leaving + coming back to campus over holidays.

When Nebraska released its statement expressing disappointment in the B1G for cancelling the season and saying they would still continue to try and play this fall, new B1G commissioner Kevin Warren scolded them publicly and said if they play they will find themselves out of the B1G.
Desmond Howard echoed these sentiments on ESPN last night and this morning. Bashing Nebraska and generally talking shit.
Guess what? OSU's Ryan Day said the same thing as Nebraska this morning.
It's one thing when a Nebraska gets rebellious. It's a whole other thing when your big gun says the same thing. The B1G without OSU is basically the Pac 12 or Big 12. They can't make the same threat or every other conference would immediately come and roll out the reddest fucking carpet ever seen. How much more credibility does the ACC have adding OSU? How ridiculous would the SEC be with OSU added to the mix?
I still think it's all going to be cancelled, but at least Ryan Day is putting action behind his "we are fighting for the athletes" statement.
