Microsoft is betting its Xbox team will help change that. By integrating Xbox tools into Windows, Microsoft is hoping to make it easier for gamers to switch between the console, tablet and phone without much effort.

Microsoft is also hoping to deliver solid gold ponies ridden by supermodels that give out free blowjobs.

I went to Vista based on the "DX11 exclusivity" hype.

Won't be fooled again.

Traditionally every other version of Windows has been okay, and the others sucked.

Sound like they shouldn't have skipped 9; we're getting two sucky ones back to back.

MS decides to be a dick.
Microsoft today announced that going forward, it will not turn on the “Do Not Track” feature in the upcoming versions of Internet Explorer and Spartan by default.

Go fuck yourselves for making me have to do work to avoid you looking into my shit. Instead of differentiating yourself from your primary competitors that are killing you, you decide to be a third-rate sheep.

MS comes out with the worst defense in history for this decision.
Lynch emphasized the W3C point that, in the absence of user choice, there is no tracking preference expressed. So Microsoft is updating its DNT approach to eliminate any misunderstanding about whether its chosen implementation will comply with the W3C standard. Without this change, Lynch said Webs sites that receive DNT signals from the new browsers could argue that it doesn’t reflect the users’ preferences, and therefore, choose not to honor them.

“As a result, DNT will not be the default state in Windows Express Settings moving forward but we will provide customers with clear information on how to turn this feature on in the browser settings should they wish to do so,” Lynch said. “This change will apply when customers set up a new PC for the first time, as well as when they upgrade from a previous version of Windows or Internet Explorer.

MS has just ensured I won't be touching their browsers for the foreseeable future. Since FF has decided to flip the suck bit to true, I guess it's Chrome from now on.

You can just change it yourself.

From what I've read, websites aren't compelled to comply, anyway, so you'll still be tracked.

Interview with MS CEO. No, it doesn't clear anything up.
When the Great Communicator "clarified" Microsoft's plans last week, he was so effective that many reporters and analysts assumed Microsoft was giving up on its own mobile platforms, and abandoning Microsoft's "WindowS everywhere" strategy. Further clarifications were rushed out.

But SatNad didn't mean either of those things, he now tells Mary Jo Foley.

I swear to god, MS is using the Krazy Kat biz model. "Oh shit, someone threw a brick at me? They must love me."
