The 1st gen iPhone was pretty awesome compared to all things non-iPhone at the time.

Of course it was. The first wheel was tits too.

Even with all the time wheels have been out, if we started a company right now, our first wheel would be decent, but not as awesome as our third wheel...

An Apple wheel would only fit on Apple cars which would only work on Apple roads.

You'd also need to ship the wheel, car, or road back to its respective manufacturer if it breaks or you want to replace any parts.

I'm looking for a phone. It's pretty much down to: Galaxy S3 now, Note 2, or S4 in 1.5 months.

I noticed Cake mentioned having the Note2: Is that for you or a family member? I don't do a lot of calling on my phone, so the larger screen would be nice for surfing, viewing, etc. It seemed snappy, with better battery life than the S3.

Note 2 is awesome. First smart phone was an iphone. Suck. Second was the Atrix. I picked that for the beefy hardware it sported at the time and it was pocket sized. I carry all of my phones in my pocket. Wife took the Samsung. . . something. Biggest screen at the time. I had screen envy. But, my phone was not too bulky for pockets, etc. Once the contract was up, I struggled between the Atrix 2 or the Note 2. I was concerned about keeping the Note 2 in my pocket. I'm glad I went with the Note 2. It took about 15 seconds to get used to the tighter fit in the pocket. I find myself using my phone for more than just a phone. In the past, I checked email, gps and some games. Now I do all kinds productivity type stuff on my phone.

Bigger is better.

OK, I bought the Note 2. Amazon gives 30 days for full refund if you dont like it, and was $199 on upgrade.

My Atrix ran hot too, so I didn't know it got hot. I thought it was just normal for good phones.

The only time I notice it hot though is when I'm playing games on it. Doing email, photo editing, etc, I don't notice it getting hot. Even using it as a GPS, it doesn't get as hot as the Atrix would. Using the Atrix as a GPS while playing music on the radio with the screen on all the time for the GPS, it would sometimes shut down. I assumed because of the heat. Oh, it was plugged in and charging (to keep it running considering all it was doing). Doing the same thing with the Note, it does get hot (especially when charging), but never as hot as the Atrix and it's never shutdown on me.

Well, it got hot last night, I was downloading the 80 apps that had been installed on my previous phone, while I was also playing around with settings, etc. Other than that, it hasn't gotten hot at all.

So far I like it, surfing the web, reading, playing music, etc are all great. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it's like using a phone for elderly since the buttons are so large. But that does make it easy to push the buttons, and to type on. GPS is working great, music controls in the notification task bar is awesome. Huge, huge tradeup from my Droid 3.

And when I put it in my pocket, I didn't even notice. It's larger, but it's also much thinner than my Droid 3 was, so it actually fits better than the Droid did.

You are now elderly.

So after living with it for a month: It's kinda awesome. It's fast, the screen is huge and easy to use, can use it with one hand decently. I love the earphones mode, not sure if that's standard for Android, but is awesome, I can put all my driving/biking shortcuts there. The drop-down music controls. And did I mention it's fast? The camera is awesome as well.

My only complaint is that when trying to use it while biking, it is a bit hard to use 1 handed while biking. That being said, it's big and nice and easy to see while biking. (Normally, I keep it in my shorts, and only take it out to change music, or do Google Maps; I use Endomondo for biking and it calls out my miles and times).

Alright. Massive wtf. I charged my phone fully at 4pm this afternoon. Sometime between 9-10pm, it dies. I did notice it informed me of the twenty-seven goddamned motherfucking updates I don't a three-legged stripper fuck about. Anyone know the Droid way of telling your phone not to waste battery life constantly checking for things I don't care about?

EDIT: Or is the battery not holding a charge anymore. How does one tell if it's a software v hardware problem?

My battery was crap at first but it was because of the wifi sucking down all the juice looking for hotspots. I use Tasker to turn wifi on for brief windows of time during the day when I'll typically be near a known spot to get some updates, then shut it down again automatically.

As to how to stop updates altogether, there I can no help.

I'll try damned near anything. Don't need wifi on it most of the time anyway.

Start by turning off everything you don't need.

if that doesn't work, it's the battery.
