Senator profits via stock from pushing for increased defense spending.
The purchase will raise conflict of interest questions because Inhofe is now the leader of the Senate committee that approves the Pentagon's budget.
"Conflict of interest" questions? How about ethics questions?

It's a bit more complicated than that since apparently he wasn't even aware it was happening, since his portfolio is managed by a financial adviser, not himself. But I don't understand why he's not just invested in basic ETFs, etc.

If that's true, apologies to him, and fuck CNN for the misleading headline.

I think anyone holding public office shouldn't be able to profit from their policy decisions or they should be investigated, removed from office, and imprisoned.

Inhofe's communications director Leacy Burke told CNN in a statement that "the senator was not aware of this stock purchase until it came through the system very early this morning."
"All of Sen. Inhofe's financial transactions are handled by a third-party adviser," Burke said. "The senator has had no involvement in and has not been consulted about his stock transactions."
Burke said that Inhofe told his financial adviser to reverse the transaction once he was aware.
"This means that the transaction was canceled before it was settled; the senator never took ownership of it," she said.
Burke said a new report had been filed with the Senate ethics office. An amended report was posted Wednesday night without the Raytheon stock purchase listed.
In a letter, Inhofe told his financial adviser to "no longer purchase defense or aerospace companies as part of my financial holdings." The letter was dated Wednesday.

Ted Cruz introduces bill to impose term limits on Congress.

Nobody in the MSM will cover it as it gets murdered by corrupt politicians who don't want to give up their gigs.

This is something that should be added to ballots around the country. Let the people vote on this one.

I like the thought of new, incompetent lawmakers coming in every now and then. Make them work for their bribes.

Unfortunately SCOTUS has already ruled that state laws on this are unconstitutional. Thus it being introduced as an amendment.

I would agree with them. However, if ALL the states got together and said it should be law, that would be a different story.

Technically, only 38 of them would need to.

I'm for it. I just think it's been a while since we had anyone in Washington willingly give up their power. Like since George Washington.

GOP member says dumb thing.

I actually think the MSM is giving him a pseudo pass. It's clear what he was trying to say, he just wasn't smart enough to say it without sounding dumb.

Agree that it's clear what he was trying to say. There was a very selective edit on the quote. Not sure why the GOP is piling on other than they're tired of everyone always saying they're racist. It's not like they will suddenly stop saying that now.

TN House Speaker's chief of staff resigns, "amid allegations that he sent sexually explicit and racist text messages, and after admitting he used cocaine inside a legislative office building when he held a previous job."

I can't believe he made $200k per year. For a State house chief of staff?

And, TN doesn't have state income tax, yet they're paying the bills.

Pay attention, almost every other state.

West Virginia GOP definitely hates the gays.

Shit like this is why Republicans are losing the PR war.

How do you hate someone for being born a certain way? I mean, expect Patriots fans. Fuck them.
