Well tank project
Well tank project
Most of you probably have city water, but I pump my own out of the ground with an electric well pump. It comes into my house in the basement, and in order to keep good, consistent pressure, there's a big holding tank pressurized with air. Current tank charged to 20 pounds, but it was super old, leaked air, and I had to recharge it periodically. Pain in the ass.
Well, last night I broke the valve off, so said fuck it, and I'm installing a new tank, today. Pics later.
I've never done this before. May god have mercy on my soul.

Project done successfully, more or less. There's a slow leak in the hardest place to get to, under the 44 gallon tank itself, so I'm going to give in a week and see if the sediment in the well water slows it down/stops it. If not I have about another 30 minutes of work to drain it, remove it, and seal it again.
I'm still mobile and can't post pics, yet... But the improved water pressure is glorious. I went from avg 30 pounds of pressure, to average 50. 20/40 to 40/60. I like.

I love YouTube. I did all my research last night on how to do this, and took all my measurements and drew pictures, so first thing this morning I was able to go to Menard's and talk to the plumbing guy and I was able to verbalize step by step what I would do, and I left with 100% of the correct stuff, the first.time. astounding.
When the emp hits, the biggest loss of human information will be YouTube. No one has manuals any more.

Slow leak update:
Yesterday morning, one drip every 2 seconds.
Last night: one drip every 3 seconds.
Right now: one drip every 4 seconds.
The trend is encouraging.

20 seconds between drips!
Being single is exciting.

When I was single I couldn't maintain 20s between drips for long.
