I submit that every woman in the business knows how it works, otherwise they wouldn't have been volunteering to fuck to be Carol Brady in 1972.

I heard Marylin Monroe said, "Now I don't need to suck any.more cocks" when she won some sort of industry award in the 60s.

Matt Lauer defending himself from a rape allegation.

It should be noted that Ronan Farrow is the guy who started the ball that brought down Weinstein.

Indeed being sued by an employee raped by her manager three years ago.

Read the article. First, the writer clearly believes women. Not a shred of doubt is given to her accusation. Second, imho, it absolutely sounds like a rape, but this woman needs to also take responsibility for her shitty choices. And this isn't victim blaming. Nobody should ever get raped. End of story.

However, let's say this was a guy bragging all night about having thousands in cash on him. He shows it off, gets wrecked, and passes out. When he wakes up someone is going through his cash and he says "no" several times. Isn't most of society reading that news story and thinking, "Fucking dumbass"?

Again, not victim blaming or defending the rapist. Nobody should get raped, and if this guy did it he should be castrated and then murdered as an example to others. But for fuck's sake, please stop acting like the world is a utopia and everyone is perfectly trustworthy. Protect yourself!

Also, fuck Indeed for that stance in their statement. That's some bullshit.

In sex trafficking news...

Woman posts a long story on reddit about being hunted in a Target.

Color me skeptical. This seems right out of a movie. All of the villains are wearing similar clothes, magically know her movements, knew where she parked, there are three of them yet a single bagger was enough to deter them, etc? I'm not buying it.

Um. Yes it is! She made the shitty choice of participating in a party with co-workers? She trusted that her co-workers wouldn't rape her, even if she got drunk? No woman should ever get drunk because she could end up raped? She didn't go into a dark alley flashing thousands. She went to bars with known colleagues and perhaps some friends. One of them raped her (based on the info presented).

Only if you exclude a major factor, which you are:
That is where she met Aaron Schwartz, who was a senior manager who worked at the company office in Austin. A man who had been flirting with Taylor and making her uncomfortable already. There are texts sent to her mom before the incident describing suggestive remarks that Schwartz was making.

After everyone returned to the hotel Aaron Schwartz stayed on the elevator with Taylor until it was just them too. Taylor was drunk to the level of incapacitation at this point so her description of events is blurry. But it involves Schwartz suggesting that he walks her to her room and then forcing himself on to her. The next thing she remembers is she is underneath him and he is having sex with her. In this moment Taylor remembers telling him to stop and that she was really drunk. She repeated this multiple times.
Hey, you know what's a bad idea? Bar hopping, getting wrecked, being alone with, and accepting a walk to your room by a guy who has made you uncomfortable, been making suggestive remarks, been flirting with you, and has made you text your mother due to his behavior.

"But...she was drunk!"

She wasn't fucking drunk the entire week or prior to the trip!

There's zero excuse for his behavior, and I'll throw Indeed into that pile as well. However, she put herself in the position where that POS could assault her. She took zero precautions, and instead, actually made herself more vulnerable.

I'm not saying she bears 100% of the responsibility for what happened, or 50%, or even 1%, but she's not absolved of ALL responsibility.

If you don't want to get killed by Jason Voorhees, maybe don't go camping at Camp Crystal Lake?

You know women at work that mess with you, and make comments all of the time. Do you think any of them would rape you if given the chance? They have made enough comments that I bet you have even mentioned some of them to you mom. HUGE leap from "this guy's a creepy asshole" to "he actually fucking raped me". To even hint to her that this is in any way her fault, borders on evil. You insinuate that rape is one of the worst things that a person can do. To rape someone is a special kind of evil. To say that the victim shares some of the blame? No way. NO MATTER WHAT, people shouldn't be raped. THAT is the end of the story (to sort of quote you, but to try to drive that point deeper). And if they are, it's because someone else was evil enough to do that. Should people take precautions and protect themselves because there IS evil in the world? Absolutely. But if they don't or can't, it is not acceptable to say "She was asking for it".

I remember when I left OAPI, a bunch of us went to a bar and you got me WASTED. Should I have been concerned that one of you would rape me? But seriously, I did trust that you guys would take care of me, and at least get me home. Was that stupid and naive of me?

I did not read the whole article. But could this be similar to undercover agents having to do drugs while undercover in a drug trafficking ring?

If they could, they might. One tried to open the men's room door when I was in there. That was pretty fucked up. The reversed genders kind of kills your point, but if they were reversed, I would certainly never put myself in a position to be alone with them. I make it a point to never get into a position where I'm alone with them at work, let alone ask them to walk me back to my room, alone, when I'm drunk at a hotel.
Cakedaddy wrote: HUGE leap from "this guy's a creepy asshole" to "he actually fucking raped me".
No there's not. When you drive, do you never pay attention to the other cars? Do you simply look at traffic signs and go exactly the speed limit without looking up? No, because a large part of driving is reacting to other drivers because you have no fucking idea what they're going to do. People are wildcards.

There's also a saying that says "When someone shows you who they are, believe them."
Cakedaddy wrote: To even hint to her that this is in any way her fault, borders on evil.
Honestly, this is 100% incorrect, and I think this type of thinking is why people get themselves into bad situations. This is the same logic as everyone gets a trophy.

If I drove myself to South Central LA and started walking around that neighborhood maybe wearing an all blue outfit, who would you blame for my inevitable death, beating, robbery, whatever? Sure, the people who chose to attack me over the color of my clothing are technically completely responsible, but my poor choices put me into the position to where they were able to assault me.

That example is completely true, and outside of this conversation you'd say I was an idiot if I did that. However, just because the crime is rape and the victim a woman, suddenly there is no scenario where her choices simply put her in a bad position?
Cakedaddy wrote: NO MATTER WHAT, people shouldn't be raped.
I'm not debating that. Not sure what your point is.
Cakedaddy wrote: And if they are, it's because someone else was evil enough to do that.
If you're camping at Crystal Lake and it's the 5th movie, I think you bear some responsibility for what happens to you.
Cakedaddy wrote: Should people take precautions and protect themselves because there IS evil in the world? Absolutely.
That's my entire point. She was given all the signs and did nothing. Why does she get a pass because she was raped? I'm not joking that if the guy had murdered her, it would be socially acceptable to say she made bad choices. Why aren't we allowed to say that with this crime?

I realize it's an extremely sensitive topic, and in no way am I discounting the horrific thing that happened to her or absolving her rapist of even a shred of guilt. However, if we, as a society, cannot discuss the crime of rape without being honest, then how do we prevent it? Why is it wrong to tell women (and men) "If someone is being creepy towards you, do NOT put yourself in a vulnerable position around them"? How is that a bad thing? And yes, I'm arguing that telling potential victims that NOTHING they do is wrong, is absolutely putting people in harm's way.

I'm 100% certain Nick Berg didn't want to get beheaded, but he had to have known that was a possibility, ever so remote, when he went to work in Iraq during a conflict. I do not blame, in any way, his fate on him, but his choices certainly put him in that position.
Cakedaddy wrote: But if they don't or can't, it is not acceptable to say "She was asking for it".
I disagree with "don't". If you take no precautions in the face of danger, not everything is the danger's fault. It, literally, cannot be true. If I walk down the middle of the expressway and get hit by a car, it's not completely the driver's fault.

As for that "quote". In no way am I saying that, and you're completely wrong for suggesting it.

Again, I realize this is an extremely sensitive subject and hits home for a lot of people because unfortunately this is too common a crime. However, I repeat that I am not removing any guilt from the guy or the company that seems intent on protecting him. He and they deserve all punishment, hopefully, given to them. I also will repeat that in no way, shape, or form do I believe "she asked for it" or anything that remotely stupid. I'm simply suggesting that there were red flags everywhere and she ignored them. Why? With ANY other crime, we would have no problem saying the victim should have taken precautionary steps in the face of those flags. Why is that not ok with this crime?

If we want to get rid of as much of this crime as possible, and we should, what is the tactic more likely to work here:
1. Tell people not to rape other people.
2. Teach people to identify warning signs and react appropriately?
Cakedaddy wrote: I remember when I left OAPI, a bunch of us went to a bar and you got me WASTED. Should I have been concerned that one of you would rape me? But seriously, I did trust that you guys would take care of me, and at least get me home. Was that stupid and naive of me?
Had we been sexually harassing and propositioning you for weeks ahead of time? Did we ever do anything to make you text your mom about how we made you feel uncomfortable? If so, then yes, it would be insanely irresponsible of you to trust us by going out with us and then getting hammered.

Again, that's my only point, and in no way am I blaming her for the actual crime. I'm simply saying there's a reason we teach people the buddy system.
Cakedaddy wrote: But could this be similar to undercover agents having to do drugs while undercover in a drug trafficking ring?
Even if it is, what happened at the end of it is fucking wrong in every way.

Fresh off his first, to my knowledge, big break in the form of a Netflix special...

Chris D'Elia.

The ones involving underage people really hammer him, otherwise he could simply claim being a social retard. I mean, who hasn't reported the AC broken in your hotel room and then when a woman shows up to fix you it you flash her?

Maybe he watches WAY too much porn and this is how he thinks the world works?
