Read the article. Several groups told people to stay home.

I really don't care why. 20%, for any reason, isn't close to democratic. I see that as an 80% win for "fuck you, this is stupid. Try again or we revolt."

But I mean, who cares what PR thinks? Doesn't it matter what the 50 existing states think?

See, that's why it's important to vote. If you don't vote nobody knows why you didn't vote so your opinion means nothing.
But I mean, who cares what PR thinks? Doesn't it matter what the 50 existing states think?
Yes, and that's why some of the groups told folks to stay home. They were either opposed or they knew it meant nothing.

I do enjoy the people who want to go independent. Let's declare ourselves independent with our $73 billion in debt!

FEMA ends food and water shipments to Puerto Rico.
FEMA has called the island's emergency operation the longest sustained distribution of food, fuel and water in agency history, including more than $1.6 billion worth of food and more than $361 million worth of water.
The leaders of Puerto Rico are pretty upset about this decision, but it has been four months. Four months is a long ass time to be spending a fortune to get you free food and water. What exactly has Puerto Rico's leaders been doing to prepare for when these handouts would end?

Probably still trying to get the power on, since 1/3rd of the island still doesn't have it.

It isn't that poor. They've had billions given to them in the last four months.

I just don't know what more you think should be done. We sent the typical humanitarian battlegroup and hospital ship. We've sent aid and money, I've seen Trump get criticized for how he distributed it. They aren't a helpless island full of children. Our typical lineman crews who volunteer state to state can't really drive over to help.

If they are this helpless, they shouldn't keep continuously voting to not be a state. I say cut them loose from being a territory. Let them be Haiti, if that's what they want.
