Guy living in the U.S. for 30 years is being deported away from his family.

"Trump is evil" is the message we're being told.

Heartbreaking story, but nobody questions why this person hasn't worked towards citizenship for those 30 years? Hey, if Obama was so great for rubbing stamping inaction on these immigrants, why does the problem still exist? Why didn't he simply handle it? Why didn't he sign an executive order granting them citizenship or amnesty? All he was doing was passing the buck.

I really want to know if this particular guy paid taxes, voted, etc.

I think I'd be in favor of some path to citizenship that involved not voting illegally, paying the appropriate taxes, not committing crime, etc.

If only there were some way to not enter a country illegally, and then get deported. None of us are safe.

Yeah, he was 10 when he was smuggled in. It's on his parents for fucking him over. They knew the law, or they should have.

They blame Trump, but this guy is too old to be covered under DACA. On the flip side, from my understanding this guy would have been pretty much hosed anyway. The immigration laws are really funky. If you're here illegally through no fault of your own (as this guy was) I don't think there's any way to get legal without leaving the country and going to a US embassy and pretending you were never here illegally to begin with. I had a supervisor from Sri Lanka that would have to renew his visa every 3 or 5 years and had to leave the country to do it. He was married and had two kids that were born here. So he'd usually go to our call center in Mexico or visit his sister in Canada and visit the US embassy and get it taken care of then. Really a dumb way to do this stuff.

Very true.

They should definitely create an alternative method for folks already here to try and get citizenship.

They should like have a procedure in place to come here legally, and if the answer is "no," you shouldn't come in.

Today's outrage over immigration comes to us from Fort Lauderdale where border agents boarded a Greyhound bus and asked for IDs. This led to a woman from Jamaica, whose visa had expired, being escorted off the bus and taken for deportation.

Peeps are pissed:
"Floridians deserve to ride a bus in peace without having to carry a birth certificate or passport to go to Disney world, visit family, or commute for work.”
I agree, but one problem with your statement...

In today's other immigration news:
An illegal immigrant that worked for Uber raped 4 women.

Just FYI: Lyft does background checks...

Democrats: "Dreamers were brought by their parents when they were young. They are here through no fault of their own."
(some) Republicans: "Okay, you're right. They can stay, but their parents need to go."
Democrats: "You heartless bastards."

Another day, another sob story about someone being arrested after living here for X number of years without trying to get citizenship.

Oh, and of course Trump is taking all the blame. Guy's a dick, but he didn't choose to live here for 30 years without fighting for citizenship.

I actually have less sympathy for this sort of case. This guy came legally and screwed it up.

I just really enjoy how the MSM is trying to play these stories so it gets people in the feels. It's working on their crowd, but re-enforcing anti-immigrant beliefs on the other side.

It'd probably work better if this stuff was headline news when Obama was president, but even though the same shit was happening then, it wasn't being reported. I'm sure that has nothing to do with bias in the MSM.

Mattis says Dreamers in the military won't be deported.

I agree 100%. They're doing something for their new country. This proves they want to be citizens. Keep these folks.

Meanwhile, Trump administration looking to target immigrants that use public aid.

The writer tries tugging heart strings:
This could include whether a person has gotten subsidies for health insurance premiums or enrolled a child in government pre-school programs.
I mean if they're working through immigration and paying taxes who cares? If they're not paying into the system or working towards citizenship, then fuck 'em.

Court in Arizona says illegals...sorry, "Dreamers"...no longer get a break on college tuition.

The article immediately starts off with the bleeding heart shit of pleading their case, but buried within is this:
"As attorney general, my duty is to uphold the law and the will of more than one million voters who passed Proposition 300 in 2006."

That law provides that state-funded services and benefits, including in-state tuition and financial aid, can only be provided to students who have legal status.
So it only took 12 years for the state to finally do what the voters said. And they say government is inefficient...

Jerry Brown rejects Trump's plans for national guard.

He's sending them to the border, but
“This will not be a mission to build a new wall. It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal immigration laws.”
I really can't follow this logic. I mean, I get that you want to help people. However, you're openly breaking the law, they're openly breaking the law, and you're not only potentially putting your citizens in danger, but you're telling them to pay for it.

There is a happy medium between "build a wall" and "let everyone in".

SCOTUS shoots down deportation law on technicality.

It's a minor thing that I expect Congress will quickly fix.

I think for illegals, it shouldn't matter at all. They're here illegally, they need to go.

For those working towards or who have earned citizenship, they should be allowed to make mistakes like any other citizen. Unless plotting against the government or something.
