Democratic congressman from MN has an Imam who is against same sex marriage.

We're waiting on his resignation, obviously.

My line is that some religions should not be treated better than others. And the double standard drives me nuts.
The problem is that all religions aren't equal. Period. Some are little more than scams who use their thinly veiled bullshit beliefs to enable criminal activity under the guise of spiritual salvation. Such evil doesn't deserve protection. It doesn't help that any nutter can create his own sect of any faith he wants and call it his own.

TPRJones wrote:The line has to be drawn somewhere. You simply cannot let "relgion requires me to do X" be a get out of jail free card for everything. Some religions require their followers to kill all infidels; should we not stop them from doing so? Some religions require their followers to take illegal drugs; what is your stance on that? Personally I think the second one is fine, but some others would disagree. Regardless, this is all just negotiation; the fact is a line must exist somewhere.
I'd say the the religion requiring them to kill infidels is not permitted by the Constitution. Your right to practice your religion does not supersede another's right to life.

And it looks like SCOTUS did rule on the illegal drugs question. And I agree with that decision as the Constitution trumps law. I see the hierarchy as follows. Constitution then laws. And that's why I have a problem with the bakers thing. I don't see sexual orientation anywhere in the Constitution or any of the founding documents. So when given the choice between supporting the clearly defined rights within the Constitution itself, and the implied rights per the judiciary of a law (the CRA) rather than the Constitution or its amendments... I'm going to have to go with the Constitution. I will also say I encourage the gay community to use the remedies prescribed within the Constitution and push for an amendment to put them on an equal footing as the religious.

I know it was posed here at another time, what if someone's religious beliefs didn't permit for a mixing of the races. Would they be required to bake a wedding cake for a mixed couple? The answer is yes. Because the 14th amendment covers that. There you can make the Constitutional argument as to why.

So now someone start quoting CRA and the Constitution that will show us some religions are more equal than other.

There I will completely agree. Regardless of what the rules are all religions must be treated the same. And note that there is no such thing as an "official" religion; religion is whatever someone claims it is.

I won't be defending the baker thing. Personally I think everyone should have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, even if it's just because they don't like the color of their skin - which I would consider evil, but I don't think the government should be in the business of fighting evil. I won't fight for that stance, though, because I do acknowledge that this is problematic; if it becomes systemic in an area for everyone to do this you end up with towns where they start running people they don't like out of town unjustly. One baker refusing service is no big deal; an entire community refusing service is untenable. And you can't stop the collective injustice without first stopping all the individual acts that lead up to it. So it's a messy subject.

You mean other than our laws being based on Judeo-Christian ethics?

An adopted Gentoo chick raised by a same-sex penguin couple will become the world’s first penguin to not have its gender assigned.

At 6.40 am we will be speaking Charlotte Barcas, a Aquarist at the London Aquarium who looks after the penguin #Sunrise

To be fair, only the penguin can express its own gender.

Monopoly, now with gender bias.

Also, what about the Ts and Qs? Or the Ns?

Beyond stupid.

Setting aside whether or not there actually is a gender pay gap, the game celebrates discrimination. That's the message we want to teach?

I figure they have to do something to make Monopoly attractive to special interest groups. Let's be honest, no one buys it now days to play the game (it's too long and boring). You make a game to each group so they can show their wokeness, and the game sticks around for a few more years.

Monopoly Deal is a fun variant. And much shorter.

Yes, this is a real product that has been banned because "it's offensive". I also know someone who has an unopened copy. They purchased it knowing it would get banned and would become a collector's item.

While searching for the name of the one I reference below I also found this version that has a hilarious tag line.

My kids have Monopoly Empire. It's very accessible for them and much, much faster than the original. They removed the money from the game and you use brands to win (they're represented in tiles that you stack on a line).

I should have said, "pulled from the market".

At what point does it go from diversity to brainwashing and propaganda?

Kids are "too dumb and inexperienced" to drive, smoke, have sex, rent a car, serve in the military, vote, etc., but they can determine their sexual preference and identity at birth apparently.
