Is all that corn across the street edible?

Where's that opening at the back of your property lead?

Corn across the highway is feed corn. Edible by the chickens and deer :-)

Opening at the back leads out to a small road that comes off the highway. Looking at the land, it's actually two lots together. One rectangular that goes from the back of the shop to the other side of the well. The other lot is triangular bordered on two sides by the highway and the afore mentioned side road that runs at about 60 degrees off the highway. Totals about 3 3/4 acres.

Do you ever see Malachai watching you from the corn?

Last Fall my dad was helping get the yard under control and was bush hogging while I was weed-eating. A doe and her (spotless) fawn came out of the field and crossed into my yard. The doe was watching me and angling away from me and towards my dad on the tractor before looking up and seeing him. She was doing a pretty frantic zig-zag through the yard between us and out the back. The fawn hit the yard, saw us both and said screw this and went back across the highway back into the field.

I see your borders are lightly defended and easily encroached upon, mental note, though I was amused at the beehive-protected power pole. Anyone who tries to fuck with your transformer will regret it.

I had the same thoughts. I also thought that in event of a zombie Apocalypse it sits too close to the road, and thus, would be noticed.

I have attack chickens ;-)

Actually, I placed the bee hives next to the utility poles to lash them to once they're stacked. Winds can get pretty stout at times.

Power company showed up yesterday needing to replace our transformer with an upgrade. Moving us from a 440 line to a (I think) 720 line. They were concerned about the bee hive. Initially I tried to toss a small blanket over the hive just to give them peace of mind. While I knew the bees were in and out all day, I never really understood how many are moving in and out all the time. Within a couple of minutes of having the blanket over the hive, the area was swarming with bees confused and unable to return to the hive. So it was agreed by all to remove the blanket. But transformer was replaced without incident and both the line workers said they were now thinking about setting up some hives.

Shot down the road to my dad's house. The fall back position.

Which of you won the election in the FRV? I'm guessing she did.

She did, but in my defense she had a pretty substantial surgery about a month ago. I think that garnered her the sympathy vote.

Plus with the low female population, you didn't have the "I won't vote for a woman because women hate other women" factor.

Surgery?

Thanks. I will pass those along. She's recovering very well. Actually drove herself to the office to do her open enrollment for work. She's amazingly tough.

Wife wanted to go deer hunting this season, but we weren't sure she was recovered enough to climb into our stand. We went to my dad's platform stand that my brother in law and I built for him three years ago or so. Big platform with a prefab blind on top and a flight of steps up the side. While my dad might be able to manage a ladder on a regular deer stand, he won't be able to for much longer.

So this seemed like the perfect place for us to hunt from as we can drive the pickup to within a couple hundred yards (the UTV was a bit rough on the abdomen after surgery) and she could manage the steps with no trouble. She wanted to try to kill a deer this year. Years previous she was helping me and being my spotter. Just wasn't sure she was ready to kill an animal yet. So I was her spotter this morning and she got her first doe. She assisted with the field dressing and (something new this year) she helped me process it.

Now we're very tired.
