I don't get those blocks, they aren't very effective anyway. Just a quick View->Source and you can easily take whatever you want. I actually emailed the rube at the time and told him exactly that. His reply: OMG ONOEZ!!! Can you tell me how to disable View -> Source??? Clearly lots of people have n...

We got a lady at work who has done a lot. She says you pretty much need a lawyer and 10G. Not saying it can't be done without one, because I've never done it, though.

Let's say I had a big file I was working on all day. Sure, I saved early and often, but I hadn't made a backup copy. For some bizarre reason, I open a different file, and save it with the same name, in the same path.

Oops.

Is this amenable to the same techniques as file un-deletion?

We were talking about this at work. I got annoyed because some rube put a javascript right-button-click handler in his web page so that people can't steal his images and markup. That led to the question: is markup protectable IP? Take the DTMan front page, for instance. Sure, Gordon's paranoid ravi...

What I didn't realize is that it's based off an Elmore Leonard novel. Just like 83.4% of all movies.

Here. Get an Apple emulator here.

This game is teh AWESOME. I played it back in 1986 or so. It's a really cool way to learn digital logic, and, believe it or not, is STILL a decent way to learn about how to program robots.

With journalists, you never know if you're dealing with plain stupidity and laziness, or out-and-out evil.

With lawyers, it's always evil.

I've owned this since it came out (2003?). I've been wanting to watch the entire trilogy with the commentary by PJ and the broads, to hear their explanations of why they changed what they did. Last night we were doing that with the Two Towers, and I swear there were scenes I had not watched. I'm wo...

I'm retiring an old laptop. The display is busted. Any suggestions? Besides boat anchor, of course.

I was thinking install Linux and use it as a webserver or something.

I know a guy who claims he was making thousands of dollars per month running a casino in second life. They shut those down though, right? Yeah. He was really bummed. But he thinks that some people have already found a loophole. He's also getting into the land business like the Chinese lady. He's al...
