I had no real problem with Google. Until they married the federal government. When most every state and every country in Europe was suing Google for their "accidental" scooping up of emails and passwords with their Google mobiles, but OUR federal government wasn't all over them... I knew ...

I'm with Malcolm on the merits of Google. I use Ghostery to block all the Google evil on the web. They are the devil.

I really don't have strong feelings one way or the other about the legal weed in CO (or elsewhere). One thing I am curious to see will be the unintended consequences. What are all the illegal dealers going to do now? They aren't likely going to simply give up the business and start work at ad agenc...

A) Godwin's Law is around for a reason. This.
So would you invoke Godwin's Law when some says in arguing against gun confiscation that this was what allowed the Nazi party to take total control over the population with no resistance?

Heh... I trapped a racoon in a 220 conibear bucket set at my dad's in January. Have the skin dried and ready to send out for tanning. I may make a Guardians hand puppet.

And FYI, let's look at Perkins. He made a dumb comparison to Nazi Germany. Listening to what many in the Occupy movement were saying about Jews along with the 1%... I'm not so sure that his comparison was that dumb. Invoking Godwin's Law has become a crutch in my mind. "I don't have to justify...

To be honest though, even though everyone likes to talk about the states' rights when discussing the Civil War, they actually wrote into the Confederate Constitution that their states could NOT outlaw slavery within the state. I really wish they'd been a lot more consistent with that, because I fin...

Heh... I'm probably one of the only people on the planet that thought Starship Troopers was better as is than it would have been if they'd taken the book as written and put it on the screen. A good read as far as an awesome concept for a social structure. But it seemed like Heimlein wanted to come ...

Yeah, I thought they did a pretty good job with the film. Some of the changes I understand (the age thing and the time compression). Oddly, the one that bothered me the most was their faster than light travel getting to Command School. Even though it didn't make too big of a difference in the plot ...

I don't know that any Disney film has ever been made that wasn't based on some pre-existing book or children's story or what have you. EDIT: Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with that, mind you. All art is theft. But raw originality is not Disney's strong suit. I agree and not surprised t...

You hear mostly about this stuff , and that list alone should be "Oh fuck yeah, they don't lean on Marvel, Lucas, or Pixar..." That list also includes Pixar flicks. And a whole lot of turds (John Carter and The Lone Ranger). And again, I have to point you to their treatment of their new a...

Yeah, but it's easy to ignore crap. Crap shouldn't impact your life, just don't watch it. If Disney makes turds, so be it. Good advice :) Hopefully in a few years I'll be living in the woods somewhere and they will just be added to my growing list of movies I don't have time to stream as it is.

Back to the subject, I don't think Star Wars can get worse than Episodes 1-3. Disney can only make it better, or keep it the same. Either way, a risk worth taking. I guess for me, I can take bad decision making with a franchise a lot better when it's just a crappy idea based on the creators vision ...

Well, whether she's been getting shafted on child support or not, advertising on social media that she's going to spend some of that money on herself reeks of stupid. But after they bought Pixar Disney still made Tangled, which was better than anything Pixar has made lately. Not sure if that is a good argument or not. Tangled wasn't bad. Didn't realize they didn't do that one under their Pixar property. It may not be fair to Disney, but only about half of what t...
