The Wandering Earth

175327 I think they could, yes. I don't think there was even remotely enough mass on the planet to fuel them for 2500 years. Not at the rate they were digging. And how the hell do you burn rocks? And how are they picking up that habitat ring? Rock burn rate... yeah. I was picturing like a baseball-...

DO you think if global humanity banded together, they could build even one of those giant thrusters/cities, much less ten thousand of them?

Rewatched it. Still struck by all of the "here's what women hate about what men think" imagery. - Dude tells her to smile, so he must be punished. But I know women get triggered by that, any more. - Different dude tells her to not get emotional. One assumes women hate to be told this. One ...

That's a perfect review.

It actually took me three sittings to get through it.

Netflix. A Chinese movie with the crazy sci-fi idea that since the sun is collapsing, let's build 10k giant thrusters and move the Earth to the next star over. Hilarity ensues around Jupiter. I'm not sure what to say about this one. The science is "wut?" but it's so out there that it's... ...

Amazon Prime. A "found footage" sort of movie of a couple American girls who take a vaca to Israel. They follow a "hot" anthropologist into the old city of Jerusalem, and then... fuck... Hell opens up. Shit. The movie is ok, but what I found interesting was that so much of it was...

Game of Thrones  *SPOILERS* - For the nights dark and full of SPOILERS

I'm not sure if I should feel bad for the writers, or not. What they did with S8 won't soon stop being a punchline. Sometimes your vision is your vision.... but they got paid a lot of money, and had a lot of time to get it right. Dunno. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=51&v=4GdWD0yxvqw

The First Trump term.

I dunno, if these people are colluding with foreign powers, as they have done in the past, then spill. Burn it all.

Men Who Stare at Goats

Clooney. 80's army psychic research.

Failed dreams.

Desperate reach for validation.

Skip it, unless you want to see Ewan MacGregor running around the Iraqi desert talking about Jedis, which is amusing.

Chernobyl

HBO 5 ep miniseries.

Beginning to end of the Chernobyl disaster. Pretty bleak, horrifying, and, sometimes, amazing. This is the kind of docu-drama that they'll show to high school kids in history class instead of teaching them stuff the hard way.

Watch it.

I had quite a few chuckles, the chugging contest being the greatest ones.

Also Cena has done a good job breaking image. I've always said, it's easier to take a charismatic, charming dude and make him buff than it is to take a buff dude and make him charismatic.... but John Cena is the real deal.
