I'll look for the endosteel stuff. I just know that when I go to customize it, everything is red (indicating that I can't install it) until I take armor off, or until I select the FF upgrade. Then I get all kinds of green. So, I gotta do something to lighten my current equipment.

Ya. I'm not sure why none of my rounds were doing any damage to any one. I'm going to need to find out how to report bugs.
Bad things about the game:
1. No way to report assholes. Luckily, there are very few assholes. However, as soon as I pointed that out last night, I got TKed in spawn at the beginning of the game.
2. No way to reconnect if you get disconnected. You can't start a new match (with that mech) because it's already in a fight. . . but you can't rejoin the fight. Posts as far back as 2010 had it "on the list of things to do" but it's still not there. HUGE oversight. Kind of makes you wonder where the priority is.
Good things:
1. Good community. Most games ever, with FF on, where people are killing teammates.
2. No trash talk.

Thinking of becoming a sniper. I like hitting and running, but I don't bring any pain to the fight. I like flanking and spotting. Just did that this game and got a few spotting assists. Came up behind about 9 enemy heavy/assaults and would target them for our long range people. I didn't fire any shots because spotting for missiles meant more damage than my 4 medium lasers.
So I'm thinking of mounting 2 large lasers, that have longer range and do some damage. I can fire a few bursts and then run away while under fire. Would have worked well this last game when I was being chased by 5 enemies (there was one other ally alive doing the same thing). It's just that I have to get so close for my mediums to do full damage, letting them get their much heavier hitting weapons hit me. We killed a couple of them before I died. And then he died. But when we were both alive, the enemy couldn't keep up with us and couldn't focus either of us.
Anyway, that's my thought right now. I'm not good enough to circle a heavy and shoot them in the back at close range while they are trying to turn to catch me. So I think fewer shots, from a distance, that hurt a little more, is better for me.
So, I'm saving up for XL engine (I know I'm more vulnerable, but, I plan on shooting and running and not getting hit!) and mounting a couple large lasers.

Not in cadet mode any more. Â Money comes in slllllloooooowwwwwwww. Â Too slow. Â About 50k per game. Â When I need to save up 5 million just for an engine. Â That's slow. Â I have to grind in a mech, I don't like, to one day, months down the road, play one that I do.
Pilot points. Â You spend them to improve how well you pilot a mech. Â There are three levels in upgrades. Â You have to max out the first level, on three different chassis of a specific mech to get to level 2. Â So, I have to buy two other mechs, of the same type, and grind with them to get to level 2 pilot options. Â That's millions more money, on sub par bots, to get to level 2 upgrades. Â No idea what it takes to get to level 3. Â And that one mech, in one category. Â So much for owning multiple mech types any time soon.
You are pretty much married to one mech for a looooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg time. Â Sure, you can play the free bots for some variety. Â But you don't earn pilot XP in those. Â So you aren't upgrading pilot stats with free mech games. Â By the time I get this bot to where I want it, I'll be so sick of that bot and the game that I won't even want to play it any more! Â Money is way too slow. Â Way.

Cash only buys me a mech. It doesn't buy me any equipment or pilot upgrades. You can't pay to win.
Trying to grind out to improve my mech is really making me not like the game. After 2 hours of playing, I have shit for money still. I guess the key to having run with this game is not owning your own mech, but just playing with the beefed up free ones and killing shit. No pride in ownership, or playing how you want. Just play the free shit for a couple of years, THEN spend your c-bills on stuff you want to play and unlock the pilot upgrades.

It is not my intention to slam a game everyone enjoys. Â It is perfectly fine for a free game. Â But, I am forced to defend some comments I made, so here's an actual objective list of shit I dont like about it.

Cake mentioned I was complaining a lot about the game. Â Accurate, yet not.
I was complaining about the shitty coding and unpolished interface. Â I mentioned already that I already know how to play Mechwarrior.... I have shitloads of hours on it back in the day, and nothing has really changed in this game except it's much more simplistic for today's idiot gamers in their 20's.
But here is a list, in no particular order, about what I, as a programmer/analyst, see as being shitty about this game:
- When I put it in my Steam list, does not correctly recognize I am in a game due to the unorthodox way the game launches.
- The only way to get through the opening splash screens after the game launches is to hit the space bar, and hitting the space bar to bypass the last splash screen actually puts a "space" for the first character of the password. Â It's a little thing, but an example of the lack of polish.
- As Cake likes to point out, press "Not Ready" to show everyone you are ready. Â He is right to mock that.
- The game always launches for me in 3rd person. Â I should be able to change that.
- When I was first learning how to switch between 3rd person and 1st, I was kicking ass in a match. Â Finally learned what key to hit to change perspective. Â The transition between perspectives was so slow and stupid that I actually got targeted and killed for the first time before the transition finished.
- Cake mentioned not being able to get back in after glitch/disconnect.
- Also mentioned how hard they made it to advance without committing a lot of time to the game.
- Is there any way to report friendly fire griefers? Â "The matches go quick" isn't really a reason to blow that off. Â It should be instantly bannable in a FF game, because 9 minutes later, in the next match, he'll just fuck up an entirely different match.
- Why can't I use my second monitor to show the overall map? Â SupCom had that ability 5 years ago. Â The map is available in-game, so it isn't like they don't want me to see it. Â Just shitty design.
There were a couple other points of design shittiness I noticed while playing last night, but I wasn't taking notes at the time like I was their fucking beta tester.
This game is exactly the same as World of Tanks which I tried to get everyone to play a year or two ago when I had a bunch of (WOT-equivalent) RP that I got with the purchase of a video card. Â That game is better looking, perfectly polished, free, and is actually successful because of it. Â I got tired of it because like this game, it was full of the pros and kind of hard to be successful in the midst of them.
Again, not slamming anyone who enjoys it, just defending myself against yet another round of personal attacks.

Also, most online games have multiple parts. Even LoL has two executables running while you are playing. Associate MWOClient with Steam and I bet it shows you logged in while you are playing.

Hey Gordo, at least all of your complaints are about everything else about the game but the actual gameplay. All of that other stuff (to me at least) has no affect on how the game is when im actually playing it. I feel like the strategy and the play of this mech game plays really well.
I've personally never had any reason to report anybody so far. And i have never seen another teammate get blown up before a match like Cake did. He must have been annoying the dude with his little mech or something, who knows. So yeah, you can't report anyone as of yet but that doesn't matter to me. Hell i can report all i want in LOL and who knows what happens to that guy afterward. The asshole has already gotten under my skin and the damage is done. At least in this game i haven't really seen or had any problems with it in the first place and thats what really matters. Fact is, i see many more trolls and assholes in LOL than i do in this game.
The one problem that i can agree with is the c-bill issue. Yeah, after your cadet bonus is up you earn c-bills at a much slower pace. But when i think about it and compare it to LOL its really not much different. Lets say in a game of LOL you might average about 70-100 IP per match roughly. agreed? thats not counting the first win of the day bonus. But for this argument lets say you average 100 IP per game. If you wanna buy that new champ that costs 6,300 IP you would have to play 63 games to get enough to buy that champ. And each match last at least 30 mins but usually are longer. Thats a pretty good time sync.
Now in Mechwarrior i usually earn 30,000 c-bills for a bad game that i lose and have earned 100,000 for a good winning game with mostly just assists. So lets say i'm averaging 50,000 c-bills a game. It would take me 20 games to get 1,000,000 c-bills. So in 60 games i should be able to get 3,000,000 c-bills and these games are much shorter, 15 mins at the most. 3,000,000 c-bills will almost get you any smaller to medium mech. And put it this way, as you get better and deal more damage (cause you get c-bills based on how much damage you deal) and get more kills/assists your avg. c-bills per game should improve.
Of course there are differences in LOL and Mechwarrior. Some champs in LOL are much cheaper and some Mechs in Mechwarrior are more expensive. But i don't see it as being that much of a difference than the average LOL IP gains. And it IS a free game so they obviously are trying to get people to spend money on their game. There are premium accounts you can get to increase your XP and c-bill gains. Or you could just outright spend cash on the mech just like in LOL.
Oh yeah, this game just did come out of beta back in October and i know they are expanding on the game all the time. New maps were just released and a new user interface (which is badly needed) is coming out on Feb. 4th. And something called Community Warfare is set to be coming out shorty. A game mode where you pick one 4 or 5 factions and fight over territory and get diffrent rankings and bonuses for doing so.. I don't know much about it but i do know its on the horizon.

Yeah... I don't have a lot of problems with the gameplay itself, aside from the fact that I am new and surrounded by pros and I KNOW that I will never play it enough to actually get good equipment that will help make the game more enjoyable.
