Anyone interested?

QUOTE
UO Gamers:  Divinity 2.0 is not a small shard and not treated as such.  It’s run on enterprise level hardware (8 cpus – 16 gigs of RAM – RAID – Multi-Gigabit, Multi-homed network) with a professional staff team running it.  Divinity 2.0 will bring you a plethora of features you as a veteran will love.  These include but are not limited to no mounts, insta-hit pvp, old style housing, massive order/chaos battles and much more.  Top this all of with easy skill gain for combat related skills and you’ve created an explosive environment that will allow you to train up quickly and get right into the action.

This however does not diminish the importance of being a crafter or “mule” on Divinity 2.0.  The crafting skills will be difficult to gain and take serious effort to get to the top.  We are aware that those of you who decide to go this route want your professions to mean something therefore we’ve ensured that it will take time, effort and patience to be that dependable Grandmaster Blacksmith or any other profession.

Divinity 2.0 is completely free to play and we assure you that if you just take a moment to give it a chance it will be one of your favorite Christmas Presents you’ll ever get from us here at The RunUO Team.

Joining this launch could not be any easier.  All you need to do is take a moment to download Ultima Online from one of these locations:

http://games.mirrors.tds.net/pub/ea-games/uo/
http://www.uogaddict.com/uodownload/
http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/uomondainslegacy/

Install UO from one of those links (again for free) and patch your client by running uopatch.exe in the Ultima Online directory.  Once you’ve done that go ahead and close the client.

At this point all you need to do is install Razor (The RunUO Team’s version of UO Assist) from this location http://www.runuo.com/razor/download.php after which you simply select UO Gamers:  Divinity in the drop down and you’re off to the races.

A comprehensive join us guide is located on our awesome new website that we have redesigned:  http://www.uodivinity.com/join_us/ that will walk you through this step by step with pictures.  Our website is located at http://www.uodivinity.com if you would like to read up on the shard.

And last but not least those of you who join us on launch day will receive Christmas Gifts that will put a smile on your face.

Thanks for taking the time to read this… we definitely appreciate your time and hope you’ll join us!

Warm Regards,
The RunUO Team

Maybe I'll read up on the details later.  But maybe interested if it's free.

I think if they started charging EA (or whoever runs that shithole now) would shut them down.  I've never seen a server that *required* one to pay.

If you donate you usually get perks, though.  But usually nothing that would make you uber l33t in the game.

I don't mind faster skill gains when it comes to combat skills.  I think the crafters should still work hard so that the economy is worth while.  If smithing came easy, everyone would have one and there'd be no market.  Sell stuff is fun.  The other fun part of UO is fighting.  And fighting is fun at 700 points.

I'd THINK about trying no mounts.  I just hate the reason for it.  "We don't like the people we want to kill being able to get away."  It's simply programing so that your style of play equals a kill.  If you can't kill people on horses, take the horses away?  Dumb.  No horses?  Now my pre-cast-hally-wack game style works for me!  I win!  Put stamina back in, make it random and trainable on the horses and the endless horse race goes away.  You know, like it use to be.  You had to feed your horse to keep it going.  I dunno.  There are lots of fixes.  Taking horses away is the easiest I guess.

Plus.  I REALLY liked killing the bad guys' horses.

Faster skill gains is bad. Doesn't matter if it is for fighting, a GM must be hard to gain, or it will screw up the game. A tamer will use magery just like a pvper, and resist too. The two harder skills to gain.

Lol. And I was thinking WFTMan was a kind of pseudonym of DTMan. A long time ago, you guys was talking about your personal shard. And now I see a thread called Eve of the UO Galaxies...

Was browsing the forum.  I'm somewhat interested.  LOTS of complaining about all the reds everywhere.  Too many reds.  As soon as you start making any money, a band of reds comes and kills you taking it all away.  Reds are camping my house and I can't go there without dying.  Can't collect resources.  Etc.  Lots of whining by the blues wanting to play Diablo style.  Numbers like 900 people on, being thrown around.  However, rune books are stealable?  I'd be somewhat ok with that.  Back to the days of carrying bank runes only.  Which actually sounds fun.  Wonder if houses are secure or key based?  At any rate, sounds like there are a TON of reds to kill.  Problem is, I'm too busy to make money for training and whatnot.  So, if someone else gets started there and gets established, I'll come and leach off them till I'm battle ready.  :-)  So, hint hint. . . someone get a house and some gold so we can play there.  It's someone elses turn.  :-)

Down side. . . I didn't see any names I recognized.  Wonder how many would recognize us?

Eve of UO Galexies is a private thread where TKV scemes and plots in whatever game they are currently playing.

Eve (space game)
Galaxies (Star Wars Galaxies)
UO (duh)

None of the above are active at the moment though.

And I would keep taming as one of the hardest skills to GM.  PK/PVPers never have the patience for that which keeps it limited to PVMers who are then fun to watch PKs try to take down.  But ya, keep taming out of the hands of the PKs by making it really slow and boring to train up.

I think the key in a RPG game is diversity. If everyone is 7xGM, you are cancelling a vital aspect in the game. Putting all the players on the same base, and leaving the destiny of a fight on strategy or team work, can make the start more easy, but leave no room to the rest of the game.

Besides, it's not really boring, EUO can save your work...

For the people on that server though, UO stopped being all that a loooong time ago.  We've built too many characters to want to do it again.  We just want to play.  But keeping the crafters down is key to having any kind of an economy.  So, you have to do that.  Having everyone at 7x early just means they play and they are all doing what they came to do.

You can buy 7x skill balls for $20 on the donation page.  Looks like the land is full of houses.  "Looking to buy a tower"  "WTB small house" posts in the trading section.

I can understand that, nobody will spend two months (playing 2 or 3 hours/day) to get skills and get money enough to support your main char. Perhaps just new players will do that, but hey, there's no more new players in UO...

Anyway, pvpers still need money. Just 7xGM don't leave you on the road. If crafters is hard to make, you still need time (and some effort) to start to fight. You said by yourself, don't you want some help to start in divinity?

Perhaps... faster to 90, and slower after that? This will make most chars active enough to get some fun, but only the persistent ones will get to the top.

On one hand, there's the vast majority of us that used to play UO, concluded (at some point) that it sucked, & then stopped.  Cake hit on something big.  If the dissatisfied vets ever go back to a UO shard, we'd like to pick up where we left off w\ as little hassle as possible.  For most folk, that's 7x GM combat skills.

On the other hand, making it so those skills are easy to train up does fuck w\ things.  You could hit 7x in a week of powergaming w\ the proper resources.  Getting the cash for some of those resources took longer than training.  I really don't wanna be farming critters again just so I can get to the plateau where things might start to be fun.

& therein lies the trouble.

Know what, though?  I never liked the 7x GM template.  I was able to do better with, like, a 5x GM and then 4 50-point skills.
