Yes sir. I think I only lent you Volumes 1-4 or something. Volume 10 should be coming out soon.

If they remain true to the storylines in the series as they're claiming, then this will be the single most depressing show in the history of TV.

As I've stated before, and so do the people at that link, I cannot recommend this series enough. It is phenomenal.

It's a constant story, so if you're reading for the first time, start at the beginning and work your way through. I'll warn you, Volume 8 is not pretty.

I'm really trying not to get my hopes up, but if this can match the book, it will easily be one of the best shows on TV from day one.

And that scene in Atlanta looks exactly like the book.

5 minute trailer can be found via this link.

Premieres on Halloween, which is a bad move. Halloween movie releases always bomb, ask Kevin Smith. People are simply too busy that night for TV and/or movies.

Still, after viewing the clip, this series looks like it could be something special. They veered from the book a bit in a few of those scenes. The tank might be an homage to Dead Rising and the scenes with the black guy and his kid...not necessarily in line with the book.

Halloween?  Yay DVR!  Seems like a good thing to do after the kid is done trick or treating.

The entire first issue of the comic.

It does nothing more than get the ball rolling, but it should be interesting for everyone planning on tuning into the series this Sunday night on AMC at 10:00 p.m. EST.

It was a great start. They're taking it slow like the books.

Trust me, things are going to get...depressing.

I heard with the numbers the opening got... 11 million, I think? AMC was scrambling to get the actors' season 2 contracts locked in.

I've only watched the first ep, so far, and I noticed a few problems with the set design.

The opening scene with Frank (?) walking through the wrecked cars with a gas can, before he encounters the little girl with the bunny, you can very much tell they were using "prop" trucks.  One truck that was on its side had no drive shaft or transmission.  How'd it get there, much less crash?  Another burned out truck still had the tow chains attached from where they hauled it into place, and the wheels had chock blocks so it would stay positioned just so.  Seeing things like that makes me envision the setup for the scene instead of the scene itself.

I wonder if they decided they needed a tense opening scene to set the tone, and rushed to film it.  It is chronologically out of order and doesn't really add anything to the show except to have a tense opening.

I'm already way too critical of movies and TV shows. If I started looking at props at set pieces for minor flaws I'd only be able to watch sports.

I wouldn't call it minor... the missing transmission was, to me, glaring.  Saw it right away.  Basically made me say, "Why is there a shell of a truck sitting there?"

Then on the second viewing I noticed tow chains and chock blocks.

I'd call it minor because it's simply there as background. It's not a critical to the scene or plot.

An Apple computer being compatible with an alien race's computer systems without any modifications needed? That's a major problem with a set piece or prop.

Here's two ways you can look at it:
-Suspension of disbelief. I guarantee that at this point, you rarely bat an eye at unlimited ammo guns in films. Or maybe you forgave the bending bullets in that turd of a film Wanted?
-Fill in the blanks yourself (ala the Marvel No Prize): Looters were very active in the first days after the dead began walking. Many drove the highways scraping cars. One of these men was a guy named Cleatus who happened upon a truck the exact same build as his own. Cleatus thought to himself "a back up transmission and engine would be great". OR you couldn't see it, but off camera there was a flat bed truck over turned, and that truck without the engine and transmission actually fell off of it.

I think it's funny that you're ripping the show for this prop piece not being realistic in a scene where a child's corpse has reanimated, and not only smells living flesh, but hungers for it. Oh, and carries a bacteria within her mouth so powerful that a single bite means death for her victim.

Hey now... I aint RIPPING, just noticing.  There's a difference.  So far I like the show.

As far as Wanted and bending bullets, would you say it is possible to sink a ball in billiards so it actually describes a curve and avoids other balls between it and a pocket?  Because it is possible and it known as "putting english on the ball."  Not saying bending bullets is possible, just saying that is the avenue my suspension of disbelief took in that particular movie.

Not ripping.

Noticing.

Part of the schtick that was "Wanted" was the characters' ability to do superhuman shyte.

Read the book. Wanted was fantastic without the bullet bending. That was a Hollywood addition.

And to bend a bullet, they wouldn't shoot by slinging the arm. That's not even the key to a curveball, let alone curving bullets.

Had the killers in Wanted been TKs, it would have been far more acceptable.

The Wanted book/graphic novel has little to nothing to do with the flick anymore than Damnation Alley the flick had to do with the book.
