Last night while digging through the $5 bin at Wal-Mart I found a true gem: The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
More than anything else, it's the cast that really makes this movie something spectacular. Andrew Dice Clay does a good job playing ... well, playing Andrew Dice Clay, really. Wayne Newton plays one of the best suave-yet-creepy villians evar! Ed O'Neil as the police detective, Robert Englund as the crazy british assassin, Lauren Holly as the brainy assitant/secretary, Gilbert Gottfried as the annoying DJ, Priscilla Presley as the femme fatal, Maddie Corman as the clueless clue, and Vince Neil as the supposedly overdosed musician all round out this marvelous cast.
The music is pretty good, too, and the plot is very reasonable. Plus there are a ton of excellent quotes.
This movie deserves much better than it got. Even if you aren't a fan of Andrew Dice Clay (I'm not), I still recommend giving it a watch, as his style really does fit this character just right. No one else could have pulled off playing Mr. Rock-n-Roll Detective.
Three thumbs up!
Warning: contains huge quantities of swear words, and the misogynistic tone of Clay's character may irritate some viewers when they find they like the guy in spite of himself.

I always liked that flick... I too always thought it was under rated.
I think Dice's real-world antics around that time turned people off to the movie before even giving it a chance.

The director's commentary track is kind of sad. He knows it deserved better than it got, but he tries really hard not to sound bitter about it or blame anyone for anything.

It has one of the all time classic lines: "We're from Wisconsin." "Yeah? I'm from...(Deleted so its not a spoiler)!"
I seriously would say this film is one of the most underrated of all time.
Clay is hilarious and you will like him, which is hard for some people. Its been said that he's completely different in real life and this movie helps to prove it.
The "Diceman" from his standup is simply a character he created to make his act stand out and is completely different from Ford Fairlane. Is Fairlane still a pig? Yeah, but only in that "dumb male lead" way that Hollywood loves to portray.
