Few reality game shows are worth a damn, but this one is quite good. Â It's off the air now but there were four seasons worth made in the early 2000s.
Nine contestants are put into individual pods. Â Their names are taken away and they are identified by their numbers. Â They only get to interact with "Val", the semi-disembodied computer voice that tells them what to do. Â They are allowed almost no sleep or food, which of course messes with their minds and emotions after a few days. Â Each episode features a "treatment" that is a physical or mental challenge of some sort. Â The only way to leave (with some exceptions) is to quit by pushing the red button. Â First one to quit each treatment is off the show, and since the rest don't know they have to keep on going until they quit, too (or the treatment ends if no one else is giving up in a reasonable amount of time).
Last one left gets $50,000, but a lot of the contestants come on the show just to see how far they can go without quitting.
It's interesting to see just how far some people can and will push themselves. Â Second season is probably the best one, but all four are worth watching.

Talking to voices with bad nutrition and sleep deprivation? Shit, I call that the weekend bender.
