Anyone remember this game?  There was a puzzle in it which was the first incarnation of the classic game Ataxx/Infection.  The AI used to kick the shyte out of me & both my brothers no matter how many times we played.  It wasn't even close.  It was exceedingly brutal.

Anyhow, found an AI on the web that's rumoured to be able to be the game's brutal AI.  The algorithm that beats it?  Fucking two-move deep minimax.  Any stories I've read about players genuinely beating the puzzle involve a few hours of gameplay.  I always wondered what the fuck the brutal AI code actually looked like.  Kind of surprised a vanilla solution beats it.

That thing was state-of-the-fucking-art at the time.  The reason my brother bought a CD-ROM.

Finished my AI based on the other AI I found on the web that can supposedly beat the microscope puzzle.  I remember waiting quite a few seconds for the machine to pick a move.  Tried to keep myself to under 5 seconds whilst thinking about 2 full turns.  Works relatively well.  Still not as nasty as I remember the puzzle actually was.  Might need to dust it off & reverse engineer shyte.
