So I'm playing through Half-Life again for shits and giggles and I noticed a few things:
1.  When Gordon grabs his suit in the opening moments, there are three chambers for the suits. The other two are empty. I wonder if there's ever been any thought put into showing where those other two suits were during the incident?
2. The AI pathfinding has evolved light years ahead of where it was, and ditto for graphics.
3. Remember the dog who'd emit a sonic pulse? He's gone.
4. Remember the huge brute that shot things that sounded like bees? He's also gone. I forgot he even existed.
5. I really wish they'd bring the tentacles back.
6. The ninja-like military assassins aren't back either.
7. Another thing missing is the flat animal that shot that green goop.

I'm getting near the point where I get sent away.

After HL, I'm going to run through HL: Blue Shift and HL: Opposing Forces.

Wait, a bunch of monsters are removed from the original game?  From what version?

Sorry, I mean they haven't made another appearance in the series since the original.

Doing some research on Half-Life during lunch and there is a ton of stuff that I didn't know about. This is a really deep storyline.

Another enemy from the original that hasn't appeared again is the Gargantua, but apparently it was originally intended to be seen in the train ride at the beginning of HL2.

Also, Valve's official word on the Race X aliens from the expansion pack Opposing Force is that they were made by Gearbox for the expansion, and thus, are not officially part of the HL universe. That doesn't bode well for Adrian Sheppard.

7even is a user created mod that will cover the 7 hour war between Earth and the Combine Empire which occurred between HL and HL2.

Apparently, 20 years passed between HL and HL2...

I'm also a bit bummed to see an expansion was released for the PS2 that never made it to PC. That'd be a good freebie to toss out to HL fans who are waiting for HL3 after HL2:Ep3 is released. (Does ANYONE think there won't be a HL3?) Anyway, the expansion was called Decay and featured scientists in the lead. In fact, it was geared more towards co-op play.

If anyone out there still hasn't played HL, go buy it. It's worth it and then some.

When Gordon puts on his hazard suit in the first level, there are two empty hazard suit slots. According to Decay developer Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford (aka Duvalmagic) these belonged to (or were used by) Decay protagonists Gina and Colette.

It has been hinted by Gabe that even he'd like to see Adrian Shepard again.

A new version of Half Life using the Source engine is being created by fans and it looks amazing.
