I got this game this past Friday, and so far it is much fun. They've nearly completely rewritten how questing in MMOs work with this. It's very nice to be able to run around and adventure without having to first go pick up quests and then return to complete them. Much of the shoe leather has been removed from the game, without sacrificing storylines. Also you can jump in and help anyone in a fight and you'll get a piece of the rewards without screwing them out of anything. And no more competing for harvestable resources, as every node is available to everyone.
It's just well done.
But I haven't done any PvP stuff yet.
Is anyone else playing?

I played the first one for about 10 minutes. It was ok enough that it didn't hurt to play. My biggest beef was the sandbox feel but lack of anything that actually made it a sandbox. It's an arena combat game, with a chat room area, and some extra leveling up being done on the side to change your skin. I don't remember if things found doing quests actually did anything in combat.
I'm more about the full on sandbox, or just straight up repeated combat. So, UO or LOL. Guild Wars tries to be something in between. At least that's always been my impression.

I'm told that Guild Wars 2 is completely different from the original Guild Wars with only the backstory to link them. And there's nothing I've seen yet that I would call "arena", so that may be so.
It'll probably be awhile, but eventually they'll probably have a free demo. Check it out then and see.

I haven't played in forever, but I may fire it up again. With no monthly fees it's easy to come back, and it was a well made game.
