Available on PC for the first time?

One of the greatest games I've ever played.

If you've never played it, and you enjoy RPGs, I highly suggest you give it a look.

It's long, but the story is really strong. This was the game that took Final Fantasy from "just another series of RPGs" to the top of the mountain. It may not be there anymore, but this game put it on the map with gamers and the casual audience.

First time?  It was released for PC in 1998.

I tried to play it about a year ago but it was slow and the controls were awkward.  Hopefully this version will be a better port.

Thus the question mark at the end of my link. I'm not sure why the article is confused about it?

It's certainly the Ultima VII of the franchise.

I think Ultima IV was the big jump for that franchise.

I think Ultima IV was the big jump for that franchise.

In terms of changes from the previous installment, maybe, though VII's UI was largely the inspiration for UO's initial UI.  Black Gate was the high-water mark in terms of gameplay, story, and fun.  Except the unbelievable mindfuck of a dungeon that is Despise.  Holy shit, that place was next to impossible to navigate without the hintbook.
