I got this message in an email, which I believe makes me part of the "class."

It is about EA's exclusive rights to make football games.  Someone said that aint fair.

Next up, look for someone to sue Fox over exclusive NFL broadcasting rights.  (I assume Fox still airs the NFL)

First of all, anyone can make a football game and people outside of EA do just that. The problem is that EA bought the rights to the NFL (teams and stadiumd), NFLPA (players), NCAA (schools), and AFL (now defunct...I think) meaning nobody else can make a game that features those things. Who wants to play a pro football game where they can't take their favorite team to the Super Bowl with their favorite players? Judging by the sales figures, nobody.

My problem with the lawsuit is are they trying to say companies, schools, and individuals can't sell their licensing rights for top dollar? Because if you can't go with the top dog, you're not getting top dollar...

FOX only airs the NFC home games on Sundays, and occasionally AFC home games against NFC teams. They get 1 game one Sunday, and 2 games the next, repeating that process until the season ends.

CBS has the opposite deal as FOX. Same number of games, only they deal with the AFC.

NBC airs the Sunday Night game.

ESPN airs Monday night football.

I swear I get a notice of a class action begin settled (as opposed to this notice) at least once a year, but I never get anything from them.

If a stadium doesn't sell X amount of tickets for a game, the NFL has the right to blackout the game to viewers in the area around the stadium. It's punishment for not buying a ticket to the game.

This happened last year when the Lions didn't sell enough tickets to a game. Thus, Fox Toledo had to air a Green Bay game or something like that. What's funny is that Fox Toledo was thrilled because the Lions sucked and they were able to air a much better and higher rated game.
