She probably saw Where the Wild Things Are too much.
Most of what she did was pretty typical things for sports, imho. The pulling of the pony tail was way beyond the line, but lots of people do things: stepping on other people's feet, trying to pull them down but make it look like a fall, etc.
I'm not saying it's right, but it'd look a lot more normal over 90 minutes than it does in 30 seconds.

The first punch was fully justified, seeing as she was just purposefully elbowed in the sternum. The punch is less well hidden, but no different in essence than the other girl's action.
I'd be interested in seeing what else might be fully justified by the actions of others that were edited away. It's hard to imagine something justifying the pony-pull, though.
