The part I find most interesting is the ratio of flaccid to erect. It looks like the average increase from one to the other is a factor of 1.4 times. I thought normal was more like 3.5 times.

It was always my belief, and I swear I've read it in studies or whatever, is that flaccid length was (again) determined by evolution. If you were running around in the sun all day your dick didn't need to be protected, so it could dangle at length. Meanwhile, if you were huddled up trying to stay warm, evolution took steps to protect your member from frostbite. (Science you can do at home! Fill your bathtub with cold water. Get in and watch your little soldier dive into a foxhole.)
Queue the myth of "black guys are enormous". Study after study, including this one, has proven that's horseshit and the two biggest cocks ever measured were both white, yet public perception is what it is...
Considering that people are moving around more, different people from different regions are hooking up, and technology makes us suffer less in the winter perhaps that little evolutionary protection is disappearing?
