While correct, we've had the conversation here before that when it comes to political parties, what the word is is not what the word means. Your definition means relaxing government restriction, while in reality the modern "Liberal" party most closely means a liberal interpretation of the Constitution, in that it is seen as a set of loose guidelines for what the government can't do. It is interpreted liberally. Then it is ignored and the government does whatever it wants, anyway, specifically the executive branch, these days.

Legalization would seem to be the ultimate form of liberalization, as far as chems go.
