Do Brits have, uh, subdivisions? Kent? Is that a town, or a isle or something?

The kingdom itself actually consists of 4 distinct "nations" plus maybe some independent things like the Isle of Man: England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
These in turn have counties, which often end in "-shire." They recently (i.e., last 30 years or so) re-organized those.
