Thought we had a thread on this somewhere...
Anyway, Paula Deen has been permanently labeled a racist and her brand is tarnished forever because of a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination.
Funny side note to all that: Paula won the case.

She's white, southern, and upper/middle class. That's three strikes right there. She's just lucky she's not a man.

Something of an overreaction.

Nah, I see about the right level of reaction. A few snide comments about the marginally racist old lady seem to be a reasonable response. At least there was nothing in what I read there to indicate people were pulling out the pitchforks.

I assume it's going to cost Bobby Deen his job with Food Network.

That I would consider an overreaction.

Wouldn't that be a case for wrongful termination?

They fired her for saying she said a racist word decades earlier. It was never proven that she was discriminatory in her hiring practices, and in fact, the black woman that had sued her was one of her closest friends, still is, and said in court she loved her like a sister or whatever.
So why'd they fire her? If they'll fire her, they'll fire him.

QUOTE So why'd they fire her? Because there was a category three PR shitstorm and they decided to toss her over the side.
QUOTE If they'll fire her, they'll fire him. Why? Â There is barely a hint of a PR low pressure system yet. Â I don't expect any shitstorm to develop at all on this one, not unless someone gets busy stoking the fires of public outrage.
EDIT: Well, a new search does show the storm has intensified. Projections of a category one would not be untoward. Maybe you are right. Time will tell.
