The requirements for having a kid are pretty goddamned low. Â John Belushi told his brother to join all the extracurricular clubs in high school that he could. Â He said it was because their parents were shitty. Â While they were in high school, both of them stayed out of trouble; certainly only shades of the shit they'd do later in life (John's speedball OD and Jim's acting suck OD).
I also see nothing in that quote about how the gov't should be taking children away from their parents. Â I see the notion of people who aren't their parents giving a fuck when they're a counselor or gym teacher or something. Â Because if you do fuck up raising your kid, with or without a fucking village, you aren't likely the kind of parent that's going to prevent him from fucking the surrounding community. Â Then we are raising your kid by paying for his incarceration.

I see where you are coming from, Malcolm, but having just watched the video that's not what she meant. Â But neither did she mean what all the hoopla is accusing her of meaning.
She was specifically and only talking about spending money on schools, saying the reason we don't spend more on schools is because we look at children as the individual responsibility of each family instead of as part of our community, and that if we did the latter perhaps we would collectively invest more in their education. Â That's it, that's all she said. Â No more, no less.
