What do you do if you only have $300 in your bank account, but a bank error gives you the ability to withdraw as much as you want?
Did you answer withdraw 1..5 million and gamble it all away?
There's a commentary on our society hidden in this man's actions, but it gets worse:
QUOTE
Page, who does not have a prior record, could have faced a steeper sentence but prosecutors said his crime was a "lapse of judgment" and placed blame with Bank of America for allowing the withdrawals to take place.
In addition to the recommended 15-month sentence and order to repay the funds, the U.S. Attorney's Office has suggested that Page be prohibited from gambling in any capacity.
Really? It's the banks fault that this guy stole their money and gambled it all away? So if they accidentally leave the vault open at one of their branches, it's their fault if someone runs in and steals it all? Got to love that logic.
Oh, and saying he'll have to pay it all back? That's the height of comedy. The guy had $300 in his account, he's 55, lives in the biggest shithole int he country where there's a 20% unemployment rate, and he's about to spend 15 months in prison. I'm sure he'll pay back that 1.5M in about three weeks.
