The cows are supposedly massaged so that the distribution of fat is even. Thus, each steak doesn't just have big hunks of fat on the sides. It has smaller deposits of fat throughout making the meat taste amazing.

Simple organic grass-fed strip steak can easily cost you $20/lb at Kroger.

The one time I saw a place offering a Kobe steak (or so they claimed) it was $250 for a 6oz filet.  I went for their $15 10oz prime rib instead, to give you an idea of the regular prices at that restaurant.
