Saw this opinion piece on Bleeding Cool and found it to be interesting.
The guy has a point that's hard to argue.
Entertainment that shoves liberal opinions in the consumers' faces usually fails miserably. That's true of TV, movies, books, etc.
The amazing part is that people who do this are using an industry, entertainment, that is ridiculously capitalist in its very nature. Entertainment is a luxury.
Yes, it can also be used to distract the masses, and as a propaganda tool. I think that's what is most perplexing about the rampant liberalism within the entertainment industry. The industry itself is full of greed and people killing one another to make a buck. That's not socialism or communism. That's capitalism.
Further more, communist and socialist countries are the ones who consistently block forms of entertainment that aren't their propaganda, including films with liberal messages. They're also typically huge bases of pirating or consumers of pirated material. The biggest enemy to the entertainment industry.
This is the sort of hypocrisy you get when you mix opposing social and financial beliefs under one banner.
