According to The Center for Science in the Public Interest, yes.
Kind of a fucked up comparison, huh?
Anyway, they're talking about suing McDonald's because of their marketing tactics and putting toys into Happy Meals.
Look, I realize that advertising is powerful. We all know how media and their creations (movie stars, rockers, pop icons, etc.) can affect kids AND adults. But at what point can we blame parents?
Parents teach their kids eating habits, not McDonald's. McDonald's can run all the ads they want, but kids don't have money or the means to get there. Parents are ultimately responsible for deciding what a kid eats.
That means if your kid fat and/or has terrible eating habits, that's not McDonald's fault. It's YOUR fault.
Beer commercials are easily the best commercials on television. They're hilarious, feature good looking people, and tell me that if I drink beer I'll have a far more fun life filled with wacky situations and hot women. Does that mean that the advertising companies or beer companies are at fault for every alcoholic in this country? Is every alcohol related death on their hands?
McDonald's isn't responsible for raising your child, you are, so suck it up, stop blaming other people for your kid's flaws, and act like a responsible parent. Don't like it? Then you shouldn't have had a kid.
You'd think at an organization called "The Center for Science in the Public Interest" they'd have at least one person with an IQ high enough to figure that out. Instead of spending money on a lawsuit that can't win, they could spend it on teaching parents how to teach better eating habits to their kids.
