Holy shit, this place is insane.  I just mentioned them in my workout thread... but I googled them... and they REALLY hate people who want to work out.

Free pizza Mondays...  no grunting... no "judging," whatever that is.  There's actually a loud alarm that goes off if you do these things.

Check this shit out:

Lunk Alarm.

QUOTE
Maybe I have been hiding in a cave for awhile, but I just heard about a "lunk" alarm at planet fitness. It is essentially a nuclear loud siren that goes off when a patron grunts or drops weights, or "judges."

I was reading up on planet fitness, and I guess they have free pizza night, and free bagels as well. I asked my friend and he said his buddy was told he couldn't take his jug of water in with him because it could intimidate other members.

Correctional Officer had membership revoked for "breathing too hard.

QUOTE
Albert Argibay, a bodybuilder and a state correction officer, was at a Planet Fitness gym with 500 pounds of weight on his shoulders one afternoon this month when the club manager walked over and told him it was time to leave. Mr. Argibay, the manager explained, had violated one of the club’s most sacred and strictly enforced rules: He was grunting.

“I said to her, ‘I’m not grunting, I’m breathing heavy,’ ” recalled Mr. Argibay, 40, an energetic man with the hulking appearance of a pro linebacker. “I guess she didn’t like the fact that I challenged her, because she said to me, ‘Meet me up front; I’m canceling your membership.’ ”

Woman ejected for "being too toned."

QUOTE
Banishing members for offenses like grunting, dropping weights and breathing too hard, the gym that markets itself to the everyman (read: fatties), has once again taken its aggressive "no gymtimidation" policy too far

Tiffany Austin was feeling pretty good on Monday. It was her first day at the gym since recovering from a car accident, and the Bay Area native was amped to get back in shape. She wore a neon pink crop top and matching spandex capris, and she had just begun to power walk when a Planet Fitness employee approached her.

“Excuse me, but we’ve had some complaints,” the employee said. “You’re intimidating people with your toned body. Could you please put on a shirt?”

Men's Health - "Planet Fitness is Not a Gym.

QUOTE
Gosselin is also candid about why it works: “The gym industry was built on bodybuilders, people who work out multiple times a week. Planet Fitness was founded as a place for the other 85 percent.”

On January 7, a Category 2 shitstorm exploded on Reddit when a Planet Fitness member complained that his local club had removed its only squat rack. By way of explanation, an employee told him “a customer complained that it was intimidating.”

Goddamn.  They stock any free weights above 20 or 30 pounds?

QUOTE
Our dumbbells only go up to 80 pounds.

Ask a stupid question.  That's only 20 pounds less than where I go.
