Quite simply and to the point, this show is fucking awesome.

This show has been out 8 days now and has been rated by over 33,000 people on IMDB for a 9.3/10 score. It's got a 97% rating Rotten Tomatoes. To say that folks are loving it is an understatement.

It's amazing what can be done when you let the creators guide their properties and do so using established rules and canon. Hollywood should be learning a lot from Marvel, but you know they aren't.

Back to the review, the 13 episode first season is an origin story. Not just for Daredevil either. Kingpin is also introduced, and let me tell you, Vincent D'Onofrio deserves an Emmy. I say that while having some apprehension about inconsistencies in Wilson Fisk's character. Of course, this could just be because it's season 1 and...well, let's just say there's more evolution that needs to happen.

The cast is just awesome. I already mentioned D'Onofrio, but everyone is brilliantly cast and brings their A+ game. Specials nods from me for Vondie Curtis-Hall, Toby Leonard Moore, and Ayelet Zurer. All three are fantastic, and their characters are just so well done.

The show ties into the Marvel movie universe and there are nods to events from The Avengers, but nobody from any other properties drops in, which is a good thing. That's Daredevil. He's never spent a lot of time in space or fighting Dr. Doom in Latveria. He's always in Hell's Kitchen fighting the good fight and occasionally teaming up with the likes of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Elektra, The Punisher, etc.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist now along with the next season of Daredevil.

Highly recommended.

No nudity, but adult themes, LOTS of violence, and some language.

Most of the violence is standard fare and the show is dark so he wouldn't see a lot, but the Kingpin is a different level of violence. His violence is brutal and vicious. The blood flows and people die badly.

Even if you let him watch it (because I can only think of two times when the Kingpin's fury is on full bloody display), the show might be boring to him because the themes are really adult. I think a lot of the show would go right over his head. Not saying he, or any kid, is dumb, but you need some life experience to get where some of the show is coming from.

I would advise you to watch it first, if you think he'd be good with it, watch it again with him and the wife. (She will like it.)

Yeah, he thought Agent Carter was on the boring side.

So did I, for that matter.  It was network so it didn't have the violence that I enjoy.

This show has violence and some more violence.

There's even a fight scene where DD gets visibly exhausted from kicking so much ass.

Second episode even better than the first.

It felt like the episode "33" from Battlestar Galactica, going off the formula in the second episode.

And the hallway fight at the end.... tres Oldboy.  Did you notice it was about 5 minutes of no camera cuts for entire fight?

I am instantly a Matt Murdock fan, and I hated that Afflek movie.

Probably, you just don't yet know that the character is gay.

Pretty sure that being PROUD is part of being gay, and making sure everyone knows, and having parades and stuff.

But let's not get off track, here.

Hand slap for Vince for starting the derail.

Nope.  Not at all.  A well-written gay character that is realistic to real life you wouldn't have the slighest hint that the character is gay unless it came up because you say him dating anohter dude.  The vast majority of gay people are just people that happen to be gay, not "GAY people".

That's exactly as realisitic as assuming that everyone from the South drives a pick up, chews tobacco, and likes to have sex with cattle.

If the character is flagrantly gay it's probably just bad writing.  Just like if a character were flagrantly black or flagrantly redneck.

And now I'll also stop getting off track.

Off topic then I'm shutting up...

If a person is flagrantly gay in real life are they probably just bad people?

No more than someone from the south that drives a pickup truck and chews tobacco and likes to have sex with cattle is a bad person.

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have included sex with cattle before since that just muddies the waters.  But I bet you get my point.  For every stereotype some real people are stereotypical, sure, but that doesn't make them typical.

No worse than the flagrantly religious or political.
