I love salsa and make my own a lot. Store brands can be fine, but the soapy taste and lack of heat most have is not what I want from a salsa.
So my wife found Mateo's during a trip to Costco and I ate my first jar, but didn't go nuts over it. The flavor was solid, but I thought it was a bit too runny for my taste. A month or two passes and she grabbed me another jar on a whim. This time around I started to really dig the taste. Now I'm hooked and everyone else I introduce to this salsa loves it.
If you like salsa, give it a try. It's a touch pricey, but the jar is 32 oz. So it's larger than you would see in the grocery store.
I've only had the yellow label (medium) and it's not hot by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not completely without heat. I've found a few jars to contain more heat than others, which you would expect from time to time. Still, it's safe for those who don't like spicy things to eat, but the flavor is good enough to keep salsa lovers around too.
