We're up here near Lake Erie.... in the 70's when Bald Eagles were endangered, we were learning about how there used to be lots of them in this area, but then there weren't because of DDT making their egg shells soft.  I know I never saw one when I was growing up around here.  But now, I personally know where are 5 nests with mating pairs within 10 miles of me.  So, kinda/sorta neat.

We saw about a dozen up in the Ozarks last December.  Lots of Tyson chicken farmers and they are supposed to dispose of dead chickens (dead from something other than being slaughtered) in very specific ways.  But they will just throw them out for the eagles to eat because they are wanting to entice them to staying around.
