If obesity and alcoholism are diseases, then so is being a suicide bomber.

I'm open to the idea that alcoholism can be a disease due to people having a genetic predisposition, and the same for very, very few obese people.

I get the genetic disposition.
Hell, I get falling into a pattern for both behaviors. However, that's what they are...behaviors. They can be altered. That's not a disease.
And yes, I realize there are people who are obese due to certain medical issues, but that's a low percentage of all the obese people.
And please understand, I'm not walking around with 6 pack abs, but when my ass no longer fits into a White Castle booth my first instinct isn't to sue the restaurant because it's their fault. My first instinct is to get my fat ass on a treadmill, and start doing some push aways.
I realize pride is one of the seven deadly sins, but I think people in this country need a big spoonful of it. Some shame wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Technicaly, "diease" is formed of "dis", meaning "not," and "ease," meaning "comfortable," so...a fat guy in a tight booth, being not comfortable, has a disease.

There's no doubt genetic factors can make it harder for some people, sometimes much much harder, but when you get right down to it it's a choice.
