Well my dad was born on the inter-coastal canal about a mile from the gulf in Alabama. It is now Gulf Shores or Orange Beach Alabama. I spent many a day on gov. beaches and places around there. Is pretty much commercial now. But sometimes feels like home. Makes me sad it might go away.

From what I've heard from friends who went down to the beach recently when some globs were coming ashore, it really wasn't any different from last time they were there.
What's not mentioned in the news is that spilling oil in the gulf is a bit like putting a little ketchup in your spaghetti sauce. It does seem a wee bit off somehow afterwards, but really it's not all that different from how it was before.

Maybe it's different over in Alabama. I only know what it was like along Texas and LA. There's nothing beautiful about those waters.
