< Will not > be attended by various folk not up for an award.QUOTE Saying he was tired of being asked for his opinion about all-white or majority-white Oscar races year after year, Mr. Lee also urged the news media to “ask all the white nominees and studio heads how they feel about another all-white ballot.” QUOTE “Should people of color refrain from participating all together?” Ms Pinkett Smith wrote on her Facebook account on Saturday, “People can only treat us in the way in which we allow.” Meanwhile, Chris Rock is set to host. I've been hearing this a lot, and I have a few questions that I haven't seen answered:1. Who got snubbed? What actor, actress, or director got snubbed that should have been nominated this year? 2. What's the long term solution? Since it's impossible to both always nominate a black person for each category AND declare the nominations to be based on merit, what is a solution that makes everyone happy? Posted by Malcolm on Jan. 18 2016,11:15
The main rumbling I hear is from Will Smith fanbois and his Concussion performance. I've called that film Oscarbait more than once.

QUOTE The main rumbling I hear is from Will Smith fanbois and his Concussion performance. I've heard mostly jeers for that film. < Swag bag boycott >.QUOTE Oscar-nominated celebrities were urged on Wednesday to skip a $55,000 trip to Israel offered as part of an awards gift bag. Two U.S.-based groups campaigning for an end to Israel's occupation of the Palestinian Territories made the plea in a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times that appeared five days before the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday. "#SkipTheTrip. Don't endorse Israeli apartheid," said the ad, sponsored by the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and Jewish Voice for Peace. I don't particularly give a fuck about the politics here but WHAT THE FUCK? A $55K trip for free, and there's more? QUOTE The gift bag is not affiliated with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the Oscars.
