Thank goodness. My only complaint from the original movie was that the Kaiju lacked depth in an otherwise tight and well told story.

Holy shit, how does Goodell tell lies like that without laughing?

Nope. Read closer. My previous statement was a lie. I was comparing it to how Goodell lies.

BTW, despite how terrible the story was in the first one, I'm still looking forward to this movie because "giant monsters vs giant robots"!

Ah.

Yeah, I feel kind of the same way, in spite of the massive plot holes and idiocy in the first one.

I just realized that I want a sequel in which we just can't stop the aliens, so we start sending Jaegers into the oceans of THEIR planet.

The decision was to delay production on the sequel indefinitely so that the creative team have an immense amount of time to excel in making a worthy sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim."

Apparently, the person who wrote the first one was at nap time, but it's expected they want to graduate kindergarten before writing the sequel.

C'mon, just have the giant monsters fight the giant robots in more epic ways.

Hollywood always screws up sequels to one-off movies.  No doubt they will want to "take it in a bold new direction" and make Pacific Rim 2 a romantic comedy starring Jamie Dornan and Shailene Woodley.

The first film starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, and Max Martini a shitload of special effects grossed over $411 million worldwide.

Instead of just one dude wearing a grill, it's grills for everyone.  They're taking a year off for speech training.
